[ that zinger would be more zingy if he knew what scanra was and that tortall had just bent them over in the war a few years back ... and though she's made a fair attempt of it, her temper can't hold for long - and she snaps. ]

[Wow Alanna thanks for... spilling your life story all over Jaime. He doesn't know what a Scanra is or how well this... Alanna can fight, but her outburst feels oddly... familiar in ways he can't quite describe. He gives a twisted little smile that does nothing to agree with her point.

It doesn't help that he has no clue how he did or didn't earn his title. He's good with a sword and on a horse, he knows that much at least, but what struggles he did he face? What battles has he fought? He doesn't remember at all.]

He smirks at her because he's pretty good at not giving shits about anything, or at least deeply hiding the shits, and some wench prancing about claiming she's better with a sword without offering any proof or even appearing in armor or with a weapon doesn't much phase him.]

It probably won't break as easily, at least.

And you're the first, of course, to assume women are fragile and only meant to be broken. How keen they must find you back in your land. Of course Jaime has seen plenty of women perfectly capable of fighting at this point. He has been with the knights for a while now. It just hasn't stopped surprising him yet. It still feels like an exception rather than the rule. And Alanna doesn't look like much. Besides, how can he resist taunting her when she reacts so amusingly?]

I've yet to see any proof that you can so much as hold a sword. Wench or no, I hardly would believe your boasts without seeing for myself. Or do the knights of your land never show their skill outside of battle?

The Great Mother Goddess. [ fucking duh. there's only one who's just the goddess, jaime, get your shit together. and actually i don't have to change that or talk to arden because there is a great mother goddess in this pantheon too though at one point i really should check how all alanna's hand of the goddess shit should function. ]

...the Mother? [Look, Jaime respects the Mother as much as any other god (not a lot) but that's a strange way to refer to her. Jaime doesn't care much about religion, really. It's probably why he's still not all that familiar with the non-Westeros pantheons.]

Your tongue is sharp enough for you to be a septa, at least, though I've never known one to have any interest in swordplay.

What part of knight is it that doesn't process for you, exactly? I earned my shield as much as any other long before I got here, and if you're so interested in my swordplay, perhaps you ought to see it for yourself.

[ yeah she's not going to answer that, she'll just use her size to square her knees and launch herself up to try and catch him with a punch, but it's wide with her anger and she doesn't have the patience to disguise her intentions, making it all too possible to dodge (melee 19). ]

[He steps to the side, flicking his sword out with a flourish, though he doesn't try and attack her. He's simply toying with her.]

Oh, that convinced me, truly. I've met some squires you could defeat in combat.

If we're comparing, it seems only right to mention that I've met pigs with better manners.
