No use holding a grudge, though. Besides, he's all tangled up in books and things, isn't he? Ever thought to call in a favor and see if he can help with this mess?

I'm no good with books- more of a spoken word fellow myself. But if you pick up the trail, I'd love to see where it leads you.

I'll keep that in mind. [ it's a good humored grudging acceptance, but what do you expect ] Next treasure hunt, I'm leaving Lis'sa behind. She gets too easily derailed when something shiny turns up.

Well, I don't suppose anyone much seems her type. She keeps to herself. Can't tolerate idiots, and most people are, compared to her.

Ah, well maybe that's the trick. Maybe a fellow with his nose in a book half the day would tickle her fancy.

Well, I certainly wish him luck. Might do her good, anyway.

But back to this treasure. [As much as he likes his friends, he likes adventure that much more.]

Ah yes. [ he looks back to belle, indicating her book ] The copy we were after might be long gone, but Belle's convinced there are at least five copies.

What makes you think that? [not doubting her. just curious.]

Because the monks who transcribed the copies complained about it in private journals - of which we have a record.

Ahhh, snooping about, are we? Well he didn't happen to mention what happened to the others did he?

Not directly, no. But he did mention which monastery he was relocating to... while in the midst of still working on one translation.

That's a start. I've gone off in search of treasure on much less than that.

Unfortunately the copy she refers to seems to be unfinished.

Don't let him bully you, lass. Your ideas are much better anyway.
