[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of this month.  Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

[ oh balls. alanna edges to the door of her room in the dragon's light wing, cracking the door and peering around it. when she sees sir solace's face, she grimaces, but pulls the door open. ]

[ it's said in a submissive way as she steps to the side reluctantly. she'd learned her lessons in tortall well enough, knights were to listen and respect their superiors, and solace was certainly that. ]

[ he walks in with the polite air of someone not looking to intrude, and merely stands in the center of the space, turning towards her. ]

It was, yes.

[ she stands in awkward silence for a moment, not wanting to be the one to prompt what she feels is an impending lecture, but finally she clears her throat. ]

I don't mean to be rude, Sir, but is there something you need?

Oh, I'm not the one in need of anything.

It's those suffering upstairs who might require something. Something which I am disinclined to feel you are all that enthused to offer.

You're exaggerating again.

[ her tone is tired enough that it doesn't quite reach the levels of critical that she means it to. she turns away from him and sets about busying herself at her dresser, because it's better than focusing on the lecture. ]

And, if you're trying to make me feel guilty, it isn't working. [ it is. which is why she goes on to reason; ] You don't need my Gift to temper their pain or give them sleep.

And you consider my presence - that of one man, one set of hands - to be sufficient? When others, such as your own, are available, and choose to allow our patients to bear their griefs until I can provide them aid?

This world has remedies for that, much better than I'd ever seen. More than magic. Plenty of knights and footsoldiers have been treated on less.

You avoid my point.

You can ease their suffering in an instant. Even the greatest of medicines this world has to offer can hardly boast such results.

I can also do plenty of good with the Hide, but I'm not there, now am I? [ she shouldn't sound so bitter; in the end, it was her choice to join the dragon's light. but it hadn't felt like much of choice when she felt so damn compelled to follow the goddess' and maude's mutual warning: heal. heal as much as you can because it'll never balance the scale for the blood you'll spill. ]

There's certainly no stipulation in joining our section that prevents you from drawing a blade when it is time for a blade.

And what about holding knights hostage, are there any stipulations about that, I wonder.

I'm wondering what prompts it.

Perhaps the fact that the more you pester me to use my Gift, the less I want to do it for you. I use it for my own reasons, not this Knighthood's. Wynn is not my King.

I'm not asking you to recognize the good you are capable of for Wynn's sake.
