[ The castle can be a happening place, even on more mundane days. This log is for random interactions over the course of this month.  Because not everyone is into parties, ok.

[Yet. Her answering smile is a little self-deprecating because he probably wouldn't be okay after being thwacked by a heavy sword but... she'd rather check anyway because manners!!!] I thought I'd make sure.

You do seem a little um, out of your depth. [She stuffs the flowers into her pocket, next to the book and her hands are sort of stained yellow from the pollen, whoops. She'll need to dry them, but the leaves are what's important, and she hasn't destroyed those yet. Probably.]

[She peers past him toward where all of the training dummies and things she... doesn't have much use for are laid out.]

I would've given you a slightly smaller behemoth, though. Maybe just a giant, and then you could work your way up.

Maybe it's boring for him? [You know, given the size - and she's assuming experience - discrepancy.] I'm not sure that's the same thing as being useless, though.

He speaks of it as breeding bad habits. Making lazy swordsman who think of technique as something static, instead of ... reactionary.

[She glances around, then purses her lips. Her gaze lingers on his shoulder.] I don't know much about swordplay [that double entendre is lost entirely on her too] but the reasons for practicing it and honing your skill seem similar to magic, at least sort of.

And, well. If someone was trying to teach me to manipulate water by setting all of my stuff on fire, I'd just learn to be emotionally charged and uncontrollable. The subtler skills and -- I think you use footwork or something, don't you? They'd just get lost in all that being 'reactionary' and I wouldn't have the time to think of how to outsmart someone bigger than me. Or more experienced.

I'd just dump a small pond on them. Again.

You make a good point. I'm more inclined towards magical studies and the like myself, really, although perhaps not the kind you mean. I'm a bit out of my depth with all of this... nonsense.
