[She picks up the mug and wraps both her hands around it, holding it up to breathe in the stream.] It doesn't. Thanks.

[ after a beat, he slides into the seat beside her ] ... I'm sorry, that you couldn't go with them tonight.

[Her eye close, focusing on the yummy smell of the tea.] Me too.

[luthir]

I'm certain it will only be for this one night. Hopefully, Blade will be required to continue with his ... tour soon, and depart again.

[graveflowers]

Uh-huh. And what if he doesn't? What if he mysteriously cancels the rest of his tour because he has... nodes or something and decides to recover in Chicago. Am I just never going to leave the hotel then? [She's actually trying pretty hard not to be angry specifically with him, but... she is.] You remember that feeling helpless is exactly what those nightmares are, right? What do you think I feel right now.

Unfortunately, there are always going to come times where we're asked to be patient, to sit back and let others take the forward charge, and that sense of helplessness is always a temptation in those hours. But it can be fought down - mastered - and if it's something he means to take advantage of in you, then it's mastering it you must learn, not avoiding it.

[graveflowers]

No, this is different. This isn't sitting back and letting other people take charge. This is being told that I'm a liability, that I have to stay behind, without a choice. And -- [She makes a sound like an angry cat and shoves the tea away without tasting it.] -- Most people don't have to fall asleep at night and have their failures forced on them with that feeling turned up to eleven. So... no, you're wrong. It's damn near impossible to master because it doesn't end and I always feel it, like its there under my skin, like an illness. I can barely tolerate it.

What would you have us do instead? To dangle you closer to him, when we still do not know what it is he desires from you? Merely that he seeks to lure you in, to try to sway you to whatever his purposes may be.

[ he looks down, brow knitted slightly as he tries to explain himself. ] I do not for a moment believe he would succeed in that, but there is a considerable risk that if he realizes you will not come of your own accord, he will change his tactics and seek to take you by force.

I just need to be able to do something. Would you be able to just sit there and do nothing when it's probably your fault to begin with?

[luthir]

How is any of this your fault?

[graveflowers]

Not like, Jade and stuff. But, I put the necklace on. I basically sent out a flair, didn't I? Oh hey, have some divinity over here, come and get it.

[luthir]

You were trying to help Jade and thought the artifact to be that of a good goddess only. You could not have known any differently. And it's possible they could have discovered what you are through other channels: they certainly had some way of hunting down the others.

[graveflowers]

[With a hrumph! she drops her head in to her arms defeatedly.] I hate this.

[luthir]

[ there's a beat of silence, and then he slides his arm around her shoulders ] You are not alone in that.

[graveflowers]

I'm sorry I'm being a brat I just... [She hates this. That about summed it up.]

[watcherjunior]

[ And who just wanders in at the tail end of that little talk? You know who. She hovers awkwardly behind them, wondering if she should just turn around and go back. But knowing how she's not even trying to move quietly right now, one or both of them probably know she's there. ]

If I'm interrupting, I can totally go back to my room.

[graveflowers]

[Her head pops back up, flinging her hair back from her face as she turns slightly.] Oh no no, you stop right there. [Helllllllo distraction, please distract, let Vi use you for a distraction.] You're not even interrupting, we're done fighting for now. Come, sit, Luthir made tea, it's probably delicious. Join us! He's not as unfriendly as he may seem.

[luthir]

I can pour another. [ he squeezes vi's arm once very subtly before rising again ]

[watcherjunior]

Tea. Yeah. Tea sounds great.

[ Okay so there's no chance of retreat. But it's nice to feel useful, even if it is as a distraction. Alright, she may not know she's a distraction, but it's nice to feel wanted, okay. Dawn's still doing the hovering thing. ] I don't think he seems unfriendly. Who said unfriendly?

[graveflowers]

[She pats the chair/stool on the other side of her. Get on over here, Dawninator.] Well he's that strong, gorgeous, silent type. Stoic. They get a bad rap.

[And look she is finally going to take a sip of that damn drink.] Definitely delicious. [Does she mean the tea or the elf... WHY NOT BOTH?]

[ as he turns around to go get dawn a drink, she might see the smirk creep up his face. dammit vi. ]

[watcherjunior]

[ Aw, Luthir, you sly dog. Or elf. Elf dog? Whatever.

She rounds the side to take a seat by Vi, trying to relax into the chair. ]

I wouldn't necessarily say strong-silent-stoic is unfriendly. Maybe a bit cool, but hey. Making judgments is a terrible call.

[graveflowers]

You forgot ridiculously and unfairly attractive in that description but I'll let it slide in case I turn out to have a massively jealous streak. [She grins at Dawn over the mug before taking another sip.] Anypoodle, yeah, judging is bad. Like say, judging people based solely on their race.

[AHEM.]

[luthir]

[ as he sets down dawn's glass in front of her, vi gets a Look ] I'm familiar with plenty of dark elves who aren't prey to the House system. But that doesn't make it less of a reality.

[graveflowers]

And it still doesn't make judging all of them based on that any less prejudice! That's part of how this all got started, Jade is part drow. [She closes her eyes briefly.] ...was. The Resistance used that, pushing Raf to assassinate a politician trying to enact laws against Drow. And now he's fucked because he has that in his past all because people can't see past someone's race.
