The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ with a nat 20 disguise check (23 total), attica looks beyond glamorous in a short, single-shouldered red dress and strappy silver heels that stand out against her dark skin. she's piled her hair into an up-do that makes the silver earrings dangling from her lobes visible, and altogether she looks like she just stepped off a runway rather than out of a squiring closet.

but none of those things make her look more approachable. she may be used to mingling at these sort of events to pick targets and scope out venues for her career path, but she isn't any more sociable than normal. she stands with a drink near the window, apart from the celebratory mingling. ]

[TIME TO HANG OUT WITH YOUR BFF. or ... only ff. talking to other people sucked. like that fucking disney princess reject. astrid rushes over to her like a puppy when its owner comes home from work. except in a more graceful and feminine way.]

Well, I'm not about to try the kool-aid, but there are perks.

[ perks being resources that she can use because that's all she really cares about. but no seriously did no one else think having to recite the oath and swear fealty before even trying it out is a little culty ... ]

I never said that. I mean, it's not like it's the worst thing. And besides! As long as you're here, I'll be here. That's just what besties do.

Actually, I'm pretty certain that falls under stalker fare. [ there is a difference. and also we are not besties. ]

[O-oh... Pretty girl. Very pretty girl and Andrew didn't even notice until he just happened to glance to his left and wham- there she is. He's not much for mingling. Hell, he's not much for these parties at all, but he decided to come at the last minute and now he's standing next to some supermodel newbie and is trying to pick his tongue up off the floor.

He awkwardly clears his throat before sipping from his own drink. What are words.]

[ attica very much notices him, on the other hand. she's been eagle eyes on this whole party, and it's not a reaction she's unused to. she tends to get two potential reactions from the majority of people: suspicion, and creepy leers because they're some kind of ~exotic to you white folks.

but this is also attica, and while she's perfectly fine ignoring, she's also perfectly fine confronting and intentionally making people uncomfortable. so, there's that. she approaches him with a thin, forged smile, and leans in a little. ]

If you're trying to catch flies, you might have better luck outside.

Sorry, what? [He spoke too fast, turned his head too quick. AND FOR THE RECORD- it wasn't that she was exotic, just that she was hot. He is an equal opportunity gawker, okay.]

I wasn't- I was just... Erm, hello. [He gives an awkward little wave instead.]

Yeah. Hi. Do you want something?

[ she'll be more direct, since apparently he decided to breeze right past her clever disparaging remark. the smile drops a little flat as she studies him. ]

Just... [Trying to say hello? Well, no- not really. Getting to know the new blood? He couldn't care less about that. The reality was that he hadn't noticed her at all until a few seconds ago. He didn't want anything... Except maybe to be much better at this.]

Welcome. [He finally spits out a word.] To the knights, I mean. Welcome.

Aren't you one of the new squires, as well?

[ nope attica isn't going to make this conversation easy because conversations with attica aren't anything but unpleasant. it really ... puts a damper on the whole sexiness. ]

[bancroft]

[ on the exact opposite end of the spectrum from attica's nat 20 sits thomas at a stool near the little drink counter, looking as ratty as ever in his tattered coat and scuffed boots. his smile brightens the otherwise dark ensemble, and he taps on the counter a few times, calling down it to the far end. ] Keep them coming, friend! I've a dangerous mission in the morning and a mind to not go into it entirely sober, so I best start now. [ he glances over his shoulder and catches sight of her, adding: ] And another for the wallflower!

[ well, dangerous mission, so it could be worse as far as who's putting her on their radar. attica side-eyes thomas, but she steps forward to lean against the counter beside him, showing a willingness to accept the drink. ]

You know, honestly, I was going for dark and mysterious. Wallflower's a little too high school prom. [ her nose crinkles and she shakes her head. ]

[bancroft]

Dark and mysterious seems so par for the course for a lovely woman such as yourself, doesn't it? [ his joking tone implies DONT BE SO CLICHE :) as he hands it over ]

Think it's played out?

[ she'll just share the joke, and take the glass once the bartender has readied the drinks. ]

Maybe I'll have to change my image.

Ohhh, I think your image is quite lovely as is.

What do you know, some guys here come right out and say it after all.

I sincerely doubt I'm the first. Even in this room. We have our share of men and women who delight in telling it as it is.

I'd gotten the impression that all they did was gape like fish from across the room.

Oh, we've plenty of those as well. For every yin there's a yang.
