The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I don't think what signifies a knight is only physical strength or being proficient with weapons. [At least he hoped not. He knew those talents were a big part of it, but those things didn't really come naturally to him.] I'd like to think honor is important too. And no. I'm not a diplomat. Thank God.

If it was, I wouldn't be here. [She taps her forehead.] All brains. Though I'm a forger, so the honor thing's dubious.

It must be nice to have that kind of smarts. [He really wouldn't know. In all ways but the one way he wasn't willing to share he was pretty normal. An average Joe through and through.] You might want to work on that. [Sure, it's a smartass comment and he doesn't really even know what a forger is but if she's going to be risking her neck to save people she's going to have to get herself out of the picture. Otherwise it'll never work. Or so he thinks.]

What? The honor thing? If this goes the way I hope, I'll be in the Hoard and out of combat range.

[HAHAHAHAHA someone... zoned out during her debrief.]

That's not usually how things like this work. [Or life in general.] Expectation, meet reality.

Uh-huh. Why would you put someone who's never touched a gun in the field with a bunch of people with guns? [She raises an eyebrow.] I have "stay in the van" written all over me.

So do I, but does that mean I'll refuse to be prepared or to learn those skills based on some misplaced sense of where my talents really lie? No. Regardless of what you're best at. You'll probably be on the field at some point or another and if you value your life you'll make sure you're not scrambling when that happens.

[He shrugs. He doesn't expect anyone to believe him or follow his train of thought. He still feels like he doesn't belong most of the time.]

I don't have as much faith in the system as I do in myself. We'll put it that way. I'd rather know than rely on something I can't be sure of.

Yeah, I have a lot of faith in ability to screw things up when I'm out of my element. [No, but she's stubborn. And no one wants to see her in a situation where she isn't the very best like no one ever was.] It's not me hunting for someone to pat my ass and give me a cookie. It's fact. Some people fight and some people stay in the van. That's life. And efficiency.

Whatever you say. [If she's so sure he'll let her think that. He's not about to argue with her. He doesn't know her and figures that if she wants to learn the hard way that's her prerogative.]
