The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Lissa is moving around the party easily, content in this setting, if not mainlining the champagne in case Rose shows up and she has to awkwardly navigate that minefield.

Hopefully it will help dull the bond for Rose though...

That's what she tells herself. Mostly she is just making semi-bad life choices! Either one. In any case, she is, as always, very approachable.]

[Charming makes his way towards Lissa when he spots her, recalling their lovely talk outside with the wounded bird. She's a sweet girl and he's noticed that she's no stranger to the bar tonight.]

Hey there... Everything alright? [Most people don't drink like that unless their trying to get away from something. Usually themselves.]

Hi David. [She smiles sweetly, brushing her ponytail over her shoulder.] I'm fine just... sometimes memories get to me.

[uncease]

Want to talk about it? [He looks out at the rest of the party, then back at Lissa.] Or get some fresh air?

Fresh air sounds good. [Yes, David, help her make good life choices. She put the glass down and slides off her seat.]

[uncease]

M'lady... [He overly exaggerates the offer of his arm and lets the corners of his mouth drift up in a smile that's just for her.]

Why thank you, Sir Knight. [She loops her arm around his, brightening for the first time that evening at their playful back and forth.]

[uncease]

[And with her securely on his arm, Charming will whisk her away from the ballroom and out of the castle where they can find some fresh night air.]

So what's going on? [Concern is painted all over his expression. He doesn't want to bring her down but he is worried about what's bothering her.]

My best friend doesn't remember me? [Is that enough? She doesn't think that's enough. At least not for Charming.]. We have a bond, she can feel my emotions and thoughts. [Her nose wrinkles briefly.] Antidepressants dulled the bond back home, I thought champagne might have the same effect.

[And both effects stop her from healing, which is probably helpful.]

[uncease]

[While he doesn't know what it's like to have a bond like that, there's definitely part of this that David gets. Who knows if reverse empathizing will even work to make her feel any better, but something about Lissa makes David comfortable.]

I have a daughter. [There was really no good way to jump into it.] At least... that's what she tells me. Emma? She's a Knight- well, a squire. But she says I'm her father. [He sighs and looks up at the ceiling because he hasn't actually talked about this much at all.] But she looks... She's got to be maybe a handful of years younger than me? I don't know how it's possible, but she seems so sure.

[He smiles, looking back over at her.] It's hard- being on the other end of it. But that doesn't mean you should have to hide what you remember, what you know.

[Her eyes go a little wide at Charming's story because it sounds impossible and it must be so difficult struggling with the idea of forgetting your own child. She reaches out, putting her hand on his arm.] If anyone needs a drink, I would think it would be you.

I just don't know how I am supposed to tell her anything. It was hard enough telling Dimitri and we weren't very close. But I've known Rose since we were children and... [She exhales sharply, rubbing her forehead with the heel of her hand.] And nothing. Our bond just makes her upset and I can't stop it, I don't know how.

[uncease]

[He laughs off her comment about how he must need a drink. It's weird, yeah, but so far he hasn't worried too much about it. He likes Emma, likes talking to her even when he does feel like he's missing something.]

I'm guessing you've tried talking to her?

[Lissa snorts.] No, not exactly. Did you know that when two people actively avoid each other they can pretty much go months without seeing the other person?

[BECAUSE LISSA KNOWS THIS.]

[ mr. tall, robed, and scaly approaches her at one point in the evening, eyeing her champagne class ] Sir Dragomir, is it?

Yes. Lissa, please. [She... subtly lowers the glass, like what are you looking at.]

[eldritchweaver]

And I am Sir Hasmed, of the Dragon's Fire. [ there's no offered hand, but he does incline his head slightly ] I hoped we might have a word.

[lastdragomir]

Of course. [She glances around before finding a place to put the glass.] What did you want to talk about?

[eldritchweaver]

Something you may not wish to speak on, in mixed company.

[lastdragomir]

I doubt we'll be overheard. [Oh Lissa, so naive.]

[eldritchweaver]

I rather think you may find yourself always overheard, no matter what company you're in, yes?

[lastdragomir]

Then wherever we speak we would be equally overheard. [OH SNAP.] Maybe if I knew the topic, I'd be able to decide if I need privacy or not.

[Lissa's mouth presses into a line.] Yes, Rose would probably appreciate this conversation be private.
