The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I didn't say it was a deficiency, Cuddles. [Well, she kinda did, but...] I said it was cute. If it was a deficiency, you would still be fascinated by the microwave.

The way I've heard people in this world throw 'cute' around makes it sound quite disparaging.

It's an inherited position among my people. My mother held it before me, and I began training to take over for her when I was very young indeed.

Because it's no way to live. Your parents started something, so you have to finish it? And then your kids after that? It's stupid.

It isn't a task that can be finished. It's a position of great respect to be Master of Tomes. Everyone in the city looks up to my mother.

I intend to surpass her in skill, actually. My mother was never serious about her studies until later in life. I have an edge in starting so young.

They're a very sad group of people, but if at the end of this adventure, you decide, "hey I still wanna be a Mama's boy magical bookkeeper," I will support your decision. Until then? [She throws an arm around his shoulders.] You're with me, Amish.

[ his expression epitomizes 'unsure', however he doesn't offer any resistance. ] It hardly matters now, anyway. I've no way to return to my homeland, so when my mother finally passes on, I don't know who will become an Elder Druid in her stead.
