The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Then he ... tries smiling. It's really ineffective. It's actually kind of terrifying (intimidate nat. 20). No one should ever let him near people ever Lissa, why would you ask this of him.]

[OMG DAVID. Lissa's will save is pretty damn high (26) but OMG STOP. Her eyes widen and she pales a bit. It's only the fact that she asked him to do it that stops her from whimpering.]

[He stops smiling, a small laugh coming at her reaction before shrugging.]

How do you do that?

Practice. Where I was before, a lot of it was me being intimidating.

It's impressive. I mean, terrifying, really, but impressive. I... Don't think I could manage that.

I think it depends on how terrifying you're committed to being.

[he shrugs.]

I used to run with vikings. Being terrifying with them is pretty much a state of mind. One minute you're staring down an enemy on the battle field, the next you're embracing your friends and singing along with the minstrels ...

[a beat]

I never really managed the second part.

Vikings? Weren't they... [How to delicately ask if he's actually like a thousand years old.] Slightly ancient?

[He smiles a bit at that. The non creepy version.]

Where I was, they never went out of style.

[ aha! so it is possible to make him smile. lissa has hope to make it happen again. ] So you're not thousands of ears old then?

[He shakes his head.]

No. More closer to thirty.

[Which is still plenty old, but not that old.]

Definitely not a thousand. [ or even that old. she is not five, she doesn't think thirty is ancient. ]

So. [ she fiddles with her glass like she is deciding on something. ] How does one... find themselves hanging out with Vikings?

[He pauses, trying to figure out the best way to say it.]

When I was sixteen I accidentally found myself somewhere called Everworld. Fell in with a group of Vikings. It ... stuck.

[And that was the least complicated version of that story.]

And then you fell in with a group of knights. Seems like a pattern.

It's not really a pattern I mind.

[Fighting is what he does best.]
