Andrew fidgets while he waits for the squires to show. He's waiting inside the lab, behind its "Biohazard" labelled doors. Once people begin to show up, he offers a stammering greeting and does his best to seem like he knows what he's doing. The sad part is, he DOES know what he's doing... He's just bad with people. People are free to look around at the grand library while he waits for the proper head count. Once he thinks everyone has arrived, he takes them up the steps. A great deal of models are suspended from the ceiling that look like space age designs for jet planes, cars, boats, and any number of other things. There are other objects that are much more inexplicable: a giant silver ball, suspended by several rods, for example.

There's another set of doors at the end of the balcony, and he swipes his access card through a reader beside them. They depress with a space age hiss. revealing a clean white laboratory, with rows and rows of tables and lab equipment set up. Numerous knights buzz around in white lab coats, working under microscopes and on computers, conferring over a number of projects.

"Just a bit further." He says with an awkward smile as he waves to a few of the lab techs that he knows. There's a door on the left side of the room with a panel that he presses his hand to, causing the light to change from red to green, unlocking the door for the group.

Beyond is a very long room, with rows of labelled cases and cabinets with transparent glass revealing what's inside. Andrew moves to shift from one foot to the other on the other side of the stainless steel table.

It's pretty cool when you think about it, though. I mean... yeah, it's sort of like a spy movie. But you get to live it.

At least I can say that my life won't be boring.

[He could've said that a few years ago, maybe. With Amelia and the hell she put him through- but not now. Definitely not now.]

Watch slash grappling hook. Who knew?

Forget the grappling hook, man. The laser is the best part of that thing- hands down.

[Andrew kind of loves the toys they make in the R&D department.]

What's the intensity? I mean, what can it cut through?

[badexample]

[Andrew takes the watch and decides to let actions speak louder. Plus he... just loves playing with the toys. Taking the watch, he points it at the metal table and turns on the laser. It burns a small hole right through the tabletop.]

[beseeched]

That's really cool. I wonder what grade it is and what it can and can't do.

[badexample]

That's the fun of R&D. You might want to look into it, if you like finding out the limits of things like this.

Yeah, I probably should. Thanks. I'll head over there tomorrow sometime. Just to check it out.

Awesome! [Wow, Andrew is suddenly super excited. Getting people interested in the research fields is not always easy. He sort of feels like he deserves a gold star.]

[He didn't know for sure just yet what he wanted but he'd at the very least try to follow up.]

I'll look into what you suggested. Maybe I'm just not battle-ready, but a desk job isn't anything new to me.

Well, hey- Just because it's a desk job doesn't make it any less exciting. Keep an open mind about it.

[beseeched]

I'll try. Just disappointing that I might be doing the same thing here that I was back home.

Well I doubt you'll ever sell an ad here. But I get what you mean. Trust me- Even the less exciting jobs like mine? Still better than anything you'll find out there.

I hope you're right.

[The last thing he needs is complacency and another dead end job.]

So.... What do you like most about this job?

[badexample]

For me, I like being able to do my own thing. Wynn doesn't expect to turn you into something if you just aren't made for it. I've been in combat situations, sure. And I obviously made it. [barely] But they know I'm better with the behind the scenes stuff and they're fine to let me do that.

[beseeched]

I signed up thinking it was all combat and nothing behind the scenes. So I prepared for the worst.

[badexample]

Oh, wow- No... not at all. Hell, I think the most awesome stuff happens back here.
