The trial of Rafael Giovanni looms on the horizon, as summer gives way to fall, the chill in the air creating a definite atmosphere of foreboding as the date grows closer. It's not merely Rafael's freedom on the line after all - but also Des', thanks to the deal he struck with Iscariot. While Francesca and Val'drin work to uncover the secret of the mysterious hourglass artifact, lawyer Jaka Teken'Duis uses his ... unique legal powers to work towards a "Temporary Insanity" case for Rafael. The Knights, unhappy about the potential ramifications of such a plea, continue to seek any evidence they can to show Rafael was actually innocent, and place conspiracy charges back on Chad Becksworth and his ilk for what transpired. Not everything they learn, however, is what they were hoping to find...

Others wage more personal battles, as the coming autumn signals the encroaching winter, and Luthir and Violet's time draws shorter to find a way to stop her nightmares, lest they kill her. Elena plays a dangerous game, working to uncover more of her nature by training her doppelganger powers - with the enemy.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the three mission logs and continuing for four months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Dawn and decide where to head next.

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever. There will be a few group scenes, which I'll alert everyone to on Plurk. They may not all be posted immediately, so keep an eye on this post for new threads as time goes by. [Myri lets out a shaking breath. Apparently Lion King is something someone in the team has introduced her to because she gets that reference (pop culture 19).]

Somehow I'm not really experiencing 'no worries.'

Ooh! [Archer turns around, and grabs a few glasses and the blender.] I know just the drink for that.

[ archer is perfect. vi retracts her rudeness. (look, he called her indigo, stfu.) ]

What kind of gifts what he offering?

[Archer proceeds to mix up a few Bloody Mary's while talking.]

He sounded like a bad 'natural male enhancement' infomercial. "Silver tongue, super agility, wildest dreams, yadda yadda..."

And you told him no? [It's not that she doesn't trust Archer, but...]

[Archer laughs loudly for about a solid 20 seconds, wipes a tear from his eye, and takes a sip from his drink.]

... What was he going to do? Make me more ruggedly manly, or a better shot? I'm ISIS's top field agent - What are you guys not getting about that? There's no room for improvement.

[At least he's confident. He takes another swig of his drink.]

You were probably the best person to meet, Hakuna Matata, in all honesty. And you are really stellar. But can you tell us a little bit more about him? What he looks like, what he asked you, anything...?

Well... They all kinda look the same... But, he was wearing armor, like the black knight, and he had a sword that was smoking... and, actually, a really lame-looking throne.

Like, king-shit of spider mountain.

[witchwoman]

[Myri hesitates, glancing around.].

Perhaps we should get some of the others... [Francesca. Gar. They would know more about this person Archer was speaking to, wouldn't they? Beyond being scared, Myri doesn't feel very useful here.]

[ and right on time francesca wanders back into the room, her cell phone to her ear, and she's clearly quite relieved when she sees Archer. she hastily ends her phone conversation, hanging up and promptly approaching them, muttering: ] Thank the gods, you're back. [ and alive, too. much better than she had expected tbh. ]

Uh, duh? Was there ever any doubt? [He takes a swig from his Bloody Mary.]

Did you finish cooking my breakfast?

[ she gives him an incredulous look, as if that is totally not what he should be worrying about right now, but i guess she's just really worried about him digressing into tantrums about breakfast or something because she got a nat 20 (55) bluff check to appease his food-based concerns: ] We wouldn't let it go to waste, but you were gone for an hour, so... we ate it. [ and with a 53 diplomacy check to appear as calm and as laid-back as archer is about the whole situation: ] You did give fool-proof cooking directions.

Now, pour me a drink and tell me how exactly how it is you've back so... unscathed.

[isisagent]

[Archer scowls at the thought of someone eating his breakfast, but pours her a drink.]

Well... Let's see... [Archer scratches at his head.] He was saying something about eternal youth, or some such - so I called him "Juan Ponce de le Douche." Which, come on - pretty good, right? So he keeps going on about gifts, and I ask him if he's some kind of creeper Santa, and whether he had little helper Elves - and that really seemed to piss him off.

[Archer grins, and takes a drink.]

So then he says something about "incurring his wrath", and all of us being "doomed fools", and yadda yadda. I'm going to send him a bill for my time... [Archer thinks a moment.] and my breakfast! Those ingredients aren't cheap, or easy to come by!

[socialgraces]

[ she chuckles at his pun (as if maybe she's just as crazy as he is??), slowly taking a sip of her drink before calmly continuing her 'interrogation': ] You know I have to ask, just to be certain, but you didn't take any of his... gifts, right? [ sense motive 29, just in case ]

[isisagent]

Well... I did ask him if he could make an all Burt Reynolds remake of Gator. But, apparently, he has no power over Burt Reynolds, which frankly doesn't surprise me, because Burt Reynolds is - wait, let me finish...

... [Archer lets that hang, and takes a drink.]
