The trial of Rafael Giovanni looms on the horizon, as summer gives way to fall, the chill in the air creating a definite atmosphere of foreboding as the date grows closer. It's not merely Rafael's freedom on the line after all - but also Des', thanks to the deal he struck with Iscariot. While Francesca and Val'drin work to uncover the secret of the mysterious hourglass artifact, lawyer Jaka Teken'Duis uses his ... unique legal powers to work towards a "Temporary Insanity" case for Rafael. The Knights, unhappy about the potential ramifications of such a plea, continue to seek any evidence they can to show Rafael was actually innocent, and place conspiracy charges back on Chad Becksworth and his ilk for what transpired. Not everything they learn, however, is what they were hoping to find...

Others wage more personal battles, as the coming autumn signals the encroaching winter, and Luthir and Violet's time draws shorter to find a way to stop her nightmares, lest they kill her. Elena plays a dangerous game, working to uncover more of her nature by training her doppelganger powers - with the enemy.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the three mission logs and continuing for four months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Dawn and decide where to head next.

... Oh. You're serious. Uh... Do I need a reason? I mean, I'm here, away from all the bumbling morons back at ISIS, Eggs Woodhouse every morning, and now a Bunny... Unicorn... thing, Elena. A.. a... Bunnicorn. [He laughs]

It's hard to explain... I mean, try to imagine the only thing standing between really bad guys - terrorists, KGB, whatever - and innocent lives, are you and your team... Only, your team is full of incompetent assholes, who are constantly needing to be saved, or jeopardizing the mission.

That's what ISIS is like, every day... So... This is just like a damned vacation!

[Archer stares at Elena. Takes a drink of His Bloody Mary. Looks at Merlin. Stirs his Eggs Woodhouse. Looks back at Elena.]

I'll think about it. Want some breakfast?

Sure. [She was going to get cereal, but whatever he's making is probably better. She'll pour some coffee while she waits instead, peering at his mess progress.] Whatcha making?

Eggs Woodhouse.

Quite possibly the finest breakfast known to man. Creamed Spinach, Bechamel, Hollandaise, Poached Eggs, Campus de Bretagne, Pata Negra ham, and Perigord Truffle. Accompanied by [He shakes his drink] a pitcher of Bloody Marys, wheat toast with lemon curd, and a slice of melon.

And I have to cook it myself now, because WOODHOUSE'S lazy ass hasn't shown up in this world yet. Freeloader. Probably back at my house wearing all my clothes and sitting on my furniture, making it smell like old person. [He inadvertently crushes his glass in his hand. Ow. That smarts.]

[She looks really impressed actually...

...until he breaks the glass in his hand. Then she just looks surprised and then worried. She sets the coffee aside, moving closer to reach for his hand and examine for danger.]

Oh my god, are you okay?

[He's grimacing in pain...] YES, Elena I'm peachy. There's just giant shards of glass in my hand!

[He walks over to the sink.] Can you just... Stir the Hollandaise, so it doesn't get ruined, while I pull this out?

[Yeah, epically screwed up priorities. She does pull the pan off the hot burner and puts it aside even as she's following him to the sink.]

Some things are more important than breakfast. Like keeping all your fingers.

[He winces as they pull the biggest piece out.]
