The trial of Rafael Giovanni looms on the horizon, as summer gives way to fall, the chill in the air creating a definite atmosphere of foreboding as the date grows closer. It's not merely Rafael's freedom on the line after all - but also Des', thanks to the deal he struck with Iscariot. While Francesca and Val'drin work to uncover the secret of the mysterious hourglass artifact, lawyer Jaka Teken'Duis uses his ... unique legal powers to work towards a "Temporary Insanity" case for Rafael. The Knights, unhappy about the potential ramifications of such a plea, continue to seek any evidence they can to show Rafael was actually innocent, and place conspiracy charges back on Chad Becksworth and his ilk for what transpired. Not everything they learn, however, is what they were hoping to find...

Others wage more personal battles, as the coming autumn signals the encroaching winter, and Luthir and Violet's time draws shorter to find a way to stop her nightmares, lest they kill her. Elena plays a dangerous game, working to uncover more of her nature by training her doppelganger powers - with the enemy.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the three mission logs and continuing for four months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Dawn and decide where to head next.

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever. There will be a few group scenes, which I'll alert everyone to on Plurk. They may not all be posted immediately, so keep an eye on this post for new threads as time goes by. [Today is the worst day and this is the last person Spike wants to talk to. But really the way he growls and bares his teeth are pretty classic Spike.

Also he's losing his video game this is the worst day.]

[You really expect Archer to grasp anything that subtle? He eyes Spike warily, and approaches, leans down, and slides the Tom Collins toward it/him.]

Calm down... who's a good boy... stupid mutt... want a drink?

[I'm thinking both to Spike's vampiric constitution, as well as his enhanced senses, the fact that Archer totally drugged the drink is both readily apparent, and a total non-issue. And yes, of course Archer has drugs on him at all times. He's not just a secret agent - he's also kind of an asshole.]

[Wow I have no idea what I roll for a fucking wolf attack. So Spike'll just lunge at Archer's leg and be cockblocked by the chip in his head firing and giving him a headache. He draws back with an whimper. Man, this is the worst super power why does he even have it.]

[ this by far tops anything she could have imagined walking into when opening the door to the hotel suite, and her first reaction is to draw her gun, slowly nudging the door shut behind her with her foot as she cautiously takes a step forward. she takes quick stock of the situation, somehow putting together from the character name on the video game ("bloody wanker") and some vague inclining of memory about advanced vampire powers (either knowledge or super deductive skillz: nat 20) that it's Spike. she just doesn't holster her gun yet, in case he doesn't have control of this form... or Archer pulls something crazy and she has to shoot him. who knows?

she tentatively calls out to the wolf in her calmest voice (handle animal: 20 lolol): ] Spike?

[Thank god, someone smart. Spike's ears perk up and he trots away from Archer and over to Francesca, tail wagging.

So either she's right or it's a wolf that happens to be named Spike which really, seems like a legit name someone who would name a wolf would pick.]

OH! So it's your dog?
[Archer scowls at Francesca.]

He'd better not have shed on my suits, alright. I swear - ONE hair...
[He trails off, letting the threat hang, before absently picking up and drinking the Tom Collins which he just drugged. Look at all the pretty colors! Archer starts to sway a little, but he's still standing.]

[socialgraces]

Of course I don't have a dog. [ somehow that accusation managed to offend her ] And if I did, I wouldn't name it after one of our team members. [ idiot. ] It's Spike. [ she turns her attention back to the wolf, asking again: ] Right?

Who-nth'ells Spike?
[Archer looks legitimately confused, and also is speaking extremely slurred thanks to the drugs he laced the drink with. Then a light bulb comes on.]

Oh! Y'mean Dracula!
[Mega stumble, as Archer braces himself against the furniture.]

[Spike nods his head and wags his tail at Francesca, than growls at Archer again. He'd attack, but man, what's even the point, he's already practically out.]

[ Francesca's just judging archer's life so hard right now. She turns back to Spike, uncertain of where to go from here. ] I take it you can't just... change back? Of course that would be far too convenient.

[Way too convenient. He whines, ears drooping.]
