The trial of Rafael Giovanni looms on the horizon, as summer gives way to fall, the chill in the air creating a definite atmosphere of foreboding as the date grows closer. It's not merely Rafael's freedom on the line after all - but also Des', thanks to the deal he struck with Iscariot. While Francesca and Val'drin work to uncover the secret of the mysterious hourglass artifact, lawyer Jaka Teken'Duis uses his ... unique legal powers to work towards a "Temporary Insanity" case for Rafael. The Knights, unhappy about the potential ramifications of such a plea, continue to seek any evidence they can to show Rafael was actually innocent, and place conspiracy charges back on Chad Becksworth and his ilk for what transpired. Not everything they learn, however, is what they were hoping to find...

Others wage more personal battles, as the coming autumn signals the encroaching winter, and Luthir and Violet's time draws shorter to find a way to stop her nightmares, lest they kill her. Elena plays a dangerous game, working to uncover more of her nature by training her doppelganger powers - with the enemy.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the three mission logs and continuing for four months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Dawn and decide where to head next.

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever. There will be a few group scenes, which I'll alert everyone to on Plurk. They may not all be posted immediately, so keep an eye on this post for new threads as time goes by. [ that makes her smile a little, and she heads out of the hotel with vi in tow. she quiets a little herself, because buffy might be a chatterbox some days, but when she's as despondent as this inter-team feud has left her, it all sort of drains out. ]

[ silence is okay with her, but she does eventually break it. tentatively and tugging on the braid curled over her shoulder. ] Do you think... I mean, would you mind, if we stopped at the cemetary?

[slay]

[ for a minute, buffy looks confused. but her expression settles into sympathy as it occurs to her. ]

You want to visit Jade.

[graveflowers]

Yeah. [ her hand twists around the end of her braid. ] I don't have to, if it's uncomfortable or anything. I know not everyone is as comfortable in a graveyard as I am. So. You know. [ she shrugs, so good with words, she's a freakin' orator, wow. ]

[slay]

I - No. No, it's fine. [ she changes direction, hitting a button for a streetlight. she's not going to just come out and say she thinks graveyards are actually a great place to think or anything close to peaceful, because that's inappropriate, but she certainly doesn't mind. ]

Thanks. [ the smiles she gives buffy is weak and tired, but so grateful. ]

[slay]

Just be careful. There was a big ... worm ... hole. The kind a worm digs, not the space kind. I don't know if they've taken care of it yet.

[ whoo crossing the street. ]

Yeah, I heard... I can probably fill it in if need be. There's a lot of roots that can work like shovels. [ violet fiore, making nature her bitch since 1987. ]

Thanks. [ her voice is soft. it seems a little overly sentimental, but she can't shake the disgust of the disruption of jade's gravesite the same night she'd been laid there. maybe whatever vi had handy, powers-wise, might help her be put to actual rest. ]

Least I can do. [ literally. vi is so at home in cemeteries, it's part of her birthright, princess of the underworld, jade deserves an undamaged grave. and more flowers. and vi can do that. ]
