The trial of Rafael Giovanni looms on the horizon, as summer gives way to fall, the chill in the air creating a definite atmosphere of foreboding as the date grows closer. It's not merely Rafael's freedom on the line after all - but also Des', thanks to the deal he struck with Iscariot. While Francesca and Val'drin work to uncover the secret of the mysterious hourglass artifact, lawyer Jaka Teken'Duis uses his ... unique legal powers to work towards a "Temporary Insanity" case for Rafael. The Knights, unhappy about the potential ramifications of such a plea, continue to seek any evidence they can to show Rafael was actually innocent, and place conspiracy charges back on Chad Becksworth and his ilk for what transpired. Not everything they learn, however, is what they were hoping to find...

Others wage more personal battles, as the coming autumn signals the encroaching winter, and Luthir and Violet's time draws shorter to find a way to stop her nightmares, lest they kill her. Elena plays a dangerous game, working to uncover more of her nature by training her doppelganger powers - with the enemy.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the three mission logs and continuing for four months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Dawn and decide where to head next.

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever. There will be a few group scenes, which I'll alert everyone to on Plurk. They may not all be posted immediately, so keep an eye on this post for new threads as time goes by. You are way too good to me. [ she leans forward to kiss him so he can't protest. ]

[ protesting seems to be the last thing on his mind. he draws her closer, kissing her fiercely and not letting her draw away too soon, as if he's afraid she's going to slip out of his grasp any second. ]

[ well that's fine with her. it's not like she ever has any will power around him, so she certainly isn't going to object to this turn of events. well. she may pause for a second. ] Are we communicating right now? Is this part of that communication thing?

[ omfg violet shut up. ]

[ that makes him smile - a genuine warm, smile. he presses one palm against hers and splays his fingers. ] An essential part.

Good. [ a beat. ] Because I'm good at stabbing things and shooting things apparently, like wow I should have taken up a gun like so many years ago, why didn't anyone ever tell me how fun they are? And I'm good at trees and nature and things that don't talk back, except when, you know, they do. But people and relationships? I mean, people that aren't Finnick and relationships that aren't booze and cake, I am not good at. Bad at. Very bad at. Because I kind of suck at the whole communication thing. So since you're the one robbing the cradle, you are gonna have to teach me the ropes on this. Unless its kissing, I think I'm good at that.

I hadn't noticed any problems in the streams of communication. It isn't as if glibness was ever one of my own gifts.

Is that even a word -- glibness? [ HOW IS THAT THE POINT? it's not, which she seems to grasp after a second. ] You're not, or it isn't, whatever, but you say things when you talk, I just talk.

I hear what you're trying to tell me. Isn't that the point?

Maybe? Is it? [ she sighs, not unhappily. ] Words are hard. Right now. [ and they sound like they're literally coming with difficultly, the way she says them is slow, like she's figuring out what she means to say as she goes. ] Because of, everything. And I want to make sure. That I'm, uh, communicating clearly. Or... oh fuck it. [ she squeezes his hand but presses forward for another kiss. that type of communication is easy. words are hard. ]

[ he acquiesces to the kiss, but only for a moment before drawing back to look at her seriously, gently tipping her chin up with the side of his index finger ] I understand. And I'd rather you tried, even if you don't feel as if you're being effective in telling me what's happening inside.

[ damn. between him and myri, she's gonna have to keep talking. :| ]

I aim to please. [ a beat. ] What is she gonna do, this dream walker something chick?

From what I understand, she's able to physically enter your dreams... and make them a bit more lucid for you as well, so that you have a degree more control in them.

More lucid? [ yeah, that sounds like the complete opposite of what she wants actually and she can't really keep that out of her voice. or expression. or anything. ]

I realize that sounds like the last thing you'd want... but right now, you're helpless to whatever he wants to show you. The difference will be that you'll have your own strength to combat the visions he usually can present to you after ripping down your walls.

But what if I'm not strong? [ as much as she hates the nightmares, she gets to see memories she doesn't have. and she doesn't want to forget any of those other mistakes, she ones she can't remember. ] What if being... awake in there just makes it worse?

Maybe... maybe there's a way she can draw me there with you.

[ that is comforting and she smiles slightly. ] That's gonna be crowded.

We can always ask her to give us some privacy.

That sounds so romantic.

It might be.

Uh-huh, and how do you intend to make a nightmare romantic? [ she is very interested in this. ]
