The mission to intercept a shipment heading to Andres - one among many such mysterious deliveries that Wynn suspects have some sinister ties to the movements of Prime Minister Dimitris Sarandis' involvement in a Shadowkind slaver cult - is already off to an interesting start.  No sooner have the crew gotten aboard Thoster's pirate ship and headed out on a course that's meant to intercept the vessel then the winds start kicking up and dark thunderheads roll in on the horizon.  Lightning streaks the horizon as rain starts to fall, and Thomas stands on the deck, looking out with one foot up on the railing, frowning out. 

"Gonna be rough waters.  Not sure yet if that's going to work to our advantage or not."

[Thoster is not looking so good, and David knows he needs to step up his A-game. He turns and swings hard in the direction of the man Thoster is engaging, slashing him across the back (attack nat 20, damage 12).]

[Thoster staggers and leans against the nearest sturdy surface, wincing at the multiple gunshot wounds.]

Afraid I might have underestimated them. [He does not....look so good.]

[ brantley and david both manage to knock out their respective sailors, and cerulean blue takes a shot at david (atk 16, 9 dmg), backing up even further until he has himself cornered at the front of the ship. ]

[Locked tight seems promising! Gonna try to open that shit... (open lock 27).]

[ sailor a backs up the same way as cerulean - the only two left. he levels his gun at brantley this time (atk 16, dmg 9) looking increasingly desperate. ]

[Brantley groans as the bullet hit him. That shot almost knocks him out, but luckily, he still has some energy left to keep standing. Normally, at time like this, he would run away to safety, but he can't left his friends, so he decides to try something he has never done before.

He steadies his position and stands tall like a stone statue. He sharply glares at the sailors and angrily shouts. (intimidate 13)]

Try that again and I'll make sure both of you have a slow and painful death!

[Which David will only further emphasize as he comes at the one who shot him - cerulean. He could probably just intimidate them by his meer presence, but instead decides to go the much more direct route.

While he is (mostly) okay, he doesn't think Thoster (or Brantley for that matter) can take another hit.

There's another hard slash (attack nat 20, damage 14). He's not exactly the slow torture type, but he is definitely mad.]

Y'might want to listen to the lad. This crew of mine is the finest I've seen in ages. [No fucking bluff check required. You guys kick ass.] And that one- [He points to David] -will tear you in two without batting an eye. Surrender. [intimidate 16]

[ the guy looks scared even before david mercilessly cuts down his co-worker. his eyes go wide and his hands come up, gun dropping to the deck. ]

Ok, ok, whoa whoa! Look, you've got the wrong ship. We're not transporting anything you'd be interested in...

[ below, the door creaks open as andie picks the lock, and she gets a good look at exactly what's being 'transported'.

several heads lift up from where about fourteen people are chained to benches that line the walls. their eyes are dull or frightened, confused or defiant, and one of them crosses herself, pulling a child close to her - both of them sporting manacles on their legs. they're all dressed very poorly and packed in pretty tight. ]

[Andie's jaw drops. She looks around, then holds up a hand.]

Stay right there. I'll be right back to free you guys.

[She rushes off, realizing a second or so too late that this is a really stupid thing to say to people who are chained up.

She comes up on deck and comes to a stop, glaring death at the one remaining sailor.]

Wow, you could not be more scummy if you tried. Where are the keys to the manacles?

Manacles? [Are they really transporting human? He hates when he is right at times like this. He just hopes the use of them is not as sacrifices. That doesn't mean he prefers if they are slaves, but at least most of them are still alive if they are put into work. Or if they are really scapegoats, he hopes whatever the wicked ritual Sarandis is runinng, it hasn't started yet. He is a bit sensitive about this stuff, so you can see that he is pissed.] Listen, you're going to show us all of your cargo and help us unpack them, and when I say all, I really mean all, and don't try to be a hero, those kind of things only work in movies.[He shoots out a death glare at the sailor. (intimidate 21)] You really don't want to mess with us.

[David is just going to stand there. Staring. And looming. Don't fuck with him (intimidate 22).]

[bancroft]

[ the guy is obviously terrified, and motions towards one of the less than alive sailors ] He has the key. But I don't get it - what are you all gonna get out of that kind of cargo? Don't tell me pirates are lecturing me on morality.

[bluffcheck]

[Since the boys are doing a fine job of keeping the last sailor in his place, Thoster moves towards the direction of the keys. But he's pretty badly injured- what with the multiple gunshot wounds and all, so it may take him a second to get over there.]

What we'll do with the cargo- [He grunts in pain.] -is none of your concern.

[David can guess what manacles means. His eyes narrow and the implication on his morality, and he leans in closer, his voice speaking in a low hard tone.]

Don't move.

[And with that, he'll head over to help Thoster, since he's not looking so good, and David, while having a few wounds himself, is doing better.]

I've got it.

[fixyourproblem]

[Brantley cuts in to help when Thoster starts to walk.] Miss Dodge, why don't you take our captain, back to the ship and patch him up. Mr. Levin and I can take care of the rest. [He doesn't use the normal Sir because clearly the sailor still thinks that they're normal pirates and he doesn't want to give out any hint that they're the Knights.]

[Andie makes a face at him. While it makes sense to not use the sir thing, there's no reason to go with something like Miss.] Oh, come on, it's Andie, or at least Ms you don't have to go all-- [She catches sight of Thoster and gender rants vanish when she sees what bad shape she's in.] Thoster!

[bluffcheck]

I'm fine. [He says at first to David, but then everyone's chiming in and Thoster's pride is just as wounded as his... well the rest of him.] I said I'm fine, lass. And I'm not going anywhere. [He directs that bit to Brantley before giving him and David a glance.]

Just kill the bastard so we can be done with it. [Thomas can't be seen. Leaving any of them alive isn't an option as far as he's concerned.]

[bancroft]

[ the sailor's eyes widen in fear and he lofts both hands defensively ] Don't be hasty! Take what you want, you don't have to kill me!

[Brantley hears Andie, but he is unresponsive, there is more pressing matter than naming convention. He also doesn't budge much when Thoster gives him that glance, but when the captain commands them to kill the man, he replies loudly.]

What!? We don't need to kill him. He has agreed to cooperate.

[Brantley is sensitive about lifes and he is already pissed about the content of the cargo, so he sounds a little angry.]

Of course we're not killing him. [Wow Thoster you were doing SO WELL. But now Andie's giving him a super disapproving look. YOU CAN'T JUST KILL PEOPLE.] We can just... knock him out or something. And tie him up! There're about to be a lot of open manacles.

Happy that the both of you have such compassion for filth like this, but don't forget about our dear friend back on the ship. Can't show his face if any are left alive.

He surrendered.

[David is going to throw his lot in the moral police. Sorry, Thoster.]

We're not killing him. We'll put him somewhere else on the ship. Or we can knock him out - I'm not really opposed to either.

[Outnumbered and injured, Thoster is pretty surly about the whole thing. But he's not really in any shape to try to convince them or go about doing it himself.]

Fine- if you won't do what needs to be done, bind him, blindfold him, and for gods' sakes gag him so we don't have to listen to him.

[Well, that settles it.

David moves over to take the man gently by the arm (grapple 11), before leading him to another end of the boat to tie him up and blindfold him (dexterity 8) though possibly not very well, someone might want to double check that.]
