Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Faye's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Fire members and Nessa, Wynn, and Hasmed wait up at the front of the room for Faye to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides from the other sect members.

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice: "Approach and kneel, Sir Faye Chamberlain."

Of the Dragon's Fire, yes. From this day forth, you will report any concerns directly to me. Following missions, your reports will come to me as well.

I'm glad to see Wynn hasn't sent me any members entirely lacking in eyesight.

While there are some bloodlines that have a natural affinity for magic, in the end, it is adherence to the craft that makes any wielder rise over any other.

Not at all. Practicing the skills one already possesses is elementary. What I refer to is the continued acquisition of greater ability.

I guess I'm not really sure how you acquire magic. For me, it just sort of... happens.

Nonsense. The more you learn about magic, the more you'll see that you control it - not the other way around, no matter which avenue you choose to pursue it. You are not a victim of your magic, or a vessel through which it enacts its whims. You are the master of it.

The years would get rather trying that way. Even, I imagine, for a human.

[Faye just assumes he ran into a door and maybe that happens to elf eyes when you get so old. Plus she doesn't really know shit about snake people and makes generalizations based on ignorance a lot. Shhhhh.]
