Just like Fred said, at the top of the main staircase is the entrance to an incredibly spacious room, that has gym and weight training equipment on the wall near the door, and then lots of old school training dummies and more at the far end. A glass door enters into a firing range, and another pair of large doors on the farthest wall lead to the armory.

The room's full of the clanging of metal, as Dovan and Luthir fight, sword to axe, across the room, and Fred gathers everyone up on the gym side to explain things.

[The arm punch hurts, but Spike... really doesn't begrudge her that even a little. Even if his head punished him enough for that. He does give her another apologetic look, then glares at the cleric guy.]

It's not psychological pain. Are you planning on actually helping at any point?

Are you planning on being cooperative at any point in the near future?

What, precisely, do you think the problem is? [He gives Spike a challenging stare, like he dares him to actually try to come up with an intelligent explanation]

[bigbad]

[Spike stares back at him, unimpressed.] I don't know. That's why I came to ask you to figure it out. [He looks over at Buffy again.] I told you this was a waste of time.

[slays]

If you weren't being as big an uncooperative three-year-old as possible, maybe it wouldn't be a waste of everyone's time. [ Yeah, she's blaming this entirely on you, Spike. ]

[sirsolace]

If he'd prefer to suffer his pain, that's his decision, of course. [He's wearing such a smartass smile.]

[bigbad]

I'm being perfectly cooperative! I even hit you! [...that...helped. He growls in frustration, then turns to the cleric who's got a smile that Spike is pretty sure he doesn't like. Fine. Cooperation.] I don't remember anything past a few weeks ago. If there's a reason my head's like this, something I can't remember... I need to know.

[slay]

[ Well, she was going to snark about how there was a lot of uncooperativeness and other badness involved in hitting her out of the blue, but since he's being chill now ... she'll just shut up and let him do his thing and hope it continues. ]

Has anything else served to trigger this reaction? Or merely attacking this poor girl?

[bigbad]

The poor girl hits back harder than I do. [...that doesn't sound even a little emasculating. But it's better than being Chris Brown a guy who goes around beating on defenceless little girls.] And no. This is the first time.

[slays]

Didn't feel like it from where I was standing. You were doing an all right job of taking them, until you started going all migraine guy. [ She looks to Solace. ] I thought he was just trying to make an excuse for why he was gonna lose.

[sirsolace]

The idea crossed my mind as well. [Yep. He's just gonna put that out there. Honesty is policy. 8) ] Very well. Let's see what we can do about the pain for now, and then we'll see if can examine things. [He motions for Spike to have a seat on the edge of one of the bed.]

[bigbad]

I wasn't gonna lose! [Except for the part where he couldn't hit her without crippling head pain. That sort of put a damper in his winning plans.

He goes over to the bed and sits.]

[slay]

[ Buffy is validated by you, Sir. She gives a little bit of a smile, ignoring Spike's indignation. ] How, do you have some magic brain-scanny spell? [ Or, you know, an MRI. ]

[sirsolace]

Something along those lines. [He raises a hand to Spike's head, a bright light emitting from the palm...

and oh hey there, burning pain of burninating :| (23 hp of damage, with a will save, DC 16 to half)]

[bigbad]

[Spike screams in pain as his flesh sizzles and burns as he completely fails his will save and... he's down to one HP, by the way, please stop healing him.]

Are you trying to kill me?

[slay]

Hey! [ At this point, Buffy grabs Solace's healing-hand and in a strong jerk, shoves him away from Spike. ] Just what the hell are you trying to do?

[sirsolace]

[Solace's eyes only widen for a moment, before he just looks over at Buffy's grip on his hand. And then back at Spike. He doesn't seem to look concerned at all that he just almost killed him. In fact, he just seems like maybe, deep down, he's a little smug about the fact.] Healing powers are granted by the divine. They only do harm to that which is innately unholy.

[Oh so casually] You failed to mention you were undead.

[bigbad]

[...oh. Awkward. He shoots a slightly apologetic look at Buffy, then glares at Solace again.] You failed to ask. I didn't realise not telling you I was a vampire was going to get my face burned off. Do you have some sort of cure for unholy people?

[slay]

[ Buffy freezes at that, eyes widening. A vampire? He was a vampire? Well, there went validation for every hinky vibe she'd ever gotten off of him. And, wow, quickly following it in second, coming around the bend is the realization that she really didn't want to be proved right to get that vibe. She drops her hand away from Solace's, that edge of smugness causing her stomach to turn even more, and she backed off. ]

[ For a moment, she struggles to find words, jaw working to try and get syllables out of her gaping mouth, but finally she just shut it and shook her head. No. There were no words. Not right now. She backed off further, eyes still wide with disbelief, and then finally turned and left in a hurry. ]

[bigbad]

Buffy-- [He's feeling too injured to chase after her, so instead her turns his glare on Sir Solace.] Also it wasn't exactly common knowledge, so thanks, mate. I'd really hoped I'd lose a friend today.

[...maybe she'd come around.]

[sirsolace]

[Yeah, he's gonna cry himself to sleep over this sob story tonight, don't worry.]

You shouldn't have brought her along, then.

Your pain will heal naturally in time.

[bigbad]

So basically you're saying that you're bloody useless. I come here for help, I get hurt more and my little secret comes out. What about my headache problem? Will you even try and figure out the cause?

I see no reason to assist you if you continue to act so entitled to any help we might provide.
