Everybody loves a media circus and the trial of Rafael Giovanni is no exception. If he was famous before, in the days following the shooting, now he's all people are talking about, and all the tabloids want to focus on. The complications presented at some of the early hearings by Jaka, regarding the identity of the Black Scourge and Rafael's alleged reaction have only made the story more appealing to the millions watching.

They've also caused the trial to drag out for months as facts are checked, evidence is poured over, and the jury becomes only more split on the issue. In the meantime, the holidays fly by, and one of the most terrible winters in years blankets Chicago in blizzards.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the last log and continuing for the next couple months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Elena and decide where to head next.

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever.

[Myri just nods, not really agreeing with them or fighting either of them on those comments. She's got a lot of thinking to do on the subject of what is the best thing for her, going forward. The instinct in her to make the both of them feel better and promise to stay is overwhelming, but she knows that they'd want it to be her own decision and not a reaction to their emotions.

So to quell that urge, she will stuff her face with pancakes. Om nom.]

[ LATER AT THE PLANETARIUM.

jk i literally don't know a thing about astronomy someone else is going to have to talk about the planetarium. ]

[I have actually been to the planetarium in question I guess it's on me.

Anyway Spike's delicately smoking a little bit (his flesh, not his cigarettes) since it's daytime. He's not actually hurt (fort 25) but I like the effect so shut up there's a little smoke. They're greeted with this funky-ass sight as they enter.]

What say we head to one of the parts without windows? They've got some shows that sound fun.

[Myri hates the way that Spike ends up hurt when they travel during the day. She hates more than she can't actually do anything if really damages himself. So when they end up inside, she brushes her hands uselessly against his coat and frets a little.]

Yes, a show sounds wonderful. [She heads for the information desk so that they get some tickets. The next available show is something about Cosmic Wonder so she just buys three tickets with her knights credit card.]

She says it's starting in about fifteen minutes, so we should head that way.

[ look at you guys doing research and shit. i don't even know what a planetarium does. ]

What do you think a Cosmic Wonder is? I mean, is it, like, a pyramid, but all ... star- and planet-shaped? [ buffy is squinting, glancing up and around to take in the whole experience of this place while she chatters absently. ] 'Cause then you have to think, hey, are the other cosmic thingies getting jealous, not being upgraded to Wonder status? What's the protocol?

[bigbad]

[Spike gives Buffy one of those super adoring smiles as she babbles. Even with everything going on, her tangents warm his dead heart.] Whatever shows up best on camera, I expect.

[witchwoman]

[Grabbing a nearby brochure, Myri finds the show they're going to see and reads aloud.]

Witness the breathtaking beauty of the Crab Nebula as it descends, coming so close you can almost touch it. Zoom into Orion the Hunter and become bathed in a hotbed of active star formation. Zero in on a small patch of the night sky as you are surrounded by the Hubble Extreme Deep Field image containing more than 5,500 galaxies.

[She pauses.] I suppose I wasn't expecting a crab...

[slay]

[ as myri continues to read, buffy's expression scrunches up further. ] Am I the only one thinking a hot bath of "active star formation" sounds a little uncomfortable?

[bigbad]

Especially if those crabs are involved. [Yeah this description wasn't as helpful as it could be. To....this crowd, anyway.] Should be interesting at any rate.

[witchwoman]

[Myri follows the signs to the place where the show is taking place and hands their tickets to the person at the door. Their sits are easily found, since it's early enough that not many people are bothering to go check out panoramic movies of stars. Myri sits in the middle seat because she wants to be near both of them okay.]

It will make more sense once it starts, I hope.

There's that cheerful optimism I love about you. [ buffy is comfortable with this seating arrangement and picks the seat on myri's right side. myri between them means spike won't try to hold her hand ok. ]

[bigbad]

[DON'T UNDERESTIMATE SPIKE'S DETERMINATION. But today he's really here for Myri so he'll behave. He does slip his arm over Myri's shoulders all comfortingly, but it's coincidence if his hand also brushes Buffy's arm. Probably.] Maybe it's alien crabs. Do those exist?

[He's never heard of aliens existing but he's a vampire living in a world of magic and mystery. He's not ruling them out.]

[witchwoman]

[Myri settles against Spike while reaching out to take Buffy's hand in hers. She really is lucky to have the both of them. But just as she thinks to say anything further, the lights dim and the show begins!

Ooooh ahhhhh. Such stars. Much cosmos.

Myri is pretty much awestruck, though. The religion she grew up with was rooted so firmly in the stars and these are close enough to nearly touch. That coupled with her fragile emotional state and it's no wonder that she tears up a little.]

[ well, buffy certainly enjoys herself, holding myri's hand throughout, though she doesn't have nearly the response to it that myri does. it's just really pretty ok ... and buffy likes pretty, shiny things. ]

[bigbad]

[Meanwhile Spike... dozes off. Just a little. He's not snoring or anything. It's very late by vampire standards cut him some slack.]

[witchwoman]

[WOW SPIKE. It's okay. Myri can just love it enough to make up for that. As soon as the show ends, Myri is on her feet and clapping because she REALLY LOVED IT OKAY. She turns around to face her friends with a smile that's the closest to normal that she's shown since Spike grabbed her on the street.]

That was wonderful! I can't believe I've never been here before...

[ myri's enthusiasm is infectious, so buffy's on her feet in an instant, clapping beside her - a lot more slowly and casually, but standing nonetheless. she's smiling with appreciation for the light in her friend when she turns to look back at spike and ... catches him still sleeping. a+ ]

Maybe we should start looking into better budgeting our downtime for sightseeing.

[bigbad]

[WOW HE WAKES UP WHEN THE APPLAUSE STARTS (listen 23). He stands up and claps himself, glancing over to see Myri's face. She's brighter than any star. Definitely worth it.]

That was bloody brilliant. Great show. [bluff 18...]

[Myri falls for it because she's emotional and tired (sense motive 15). She just nods along with his praise.]

Oh, yes. Thank you both. This means so much to me.
