Everybody loves a media circus and the trial of Rafael Giovanni is no exception. If he was famous before, in the days following the shooting, now he's all people are talking about, and all the tabloids want to focus on. The complications presented at some of the early hearings by Jaka, regarding the identity of the Black Scourge and Rafael's alleged reaction have only made the story more appealing to the millions watching.

They've also caused the trial to drag out for months as facts are checked, evidence is poured over, and the jury becomes only more split on the issue. In the meantime, the holidays fly by, and one of the most terrible winters in years blankets Chicago in blizzards.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the last log and continuing for the next couple months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Elena and decide where to head next.

He won't hear it from me. [ he watches the little thing go, skeptically ] So I take it this means you're the one who's been leaving broken lacrosse sticks all over the apartment...

What was your first clue, Watson?

[Archer digs a bit more amidst the debris of punch bowls, pitchers, and glasses, to locate another mostly full beverage - and shakes it gingerly toward Mark.] Thirsty? Because I know I am. Lacrosse really takes it out of ya!

[ mark looks at it skeptically, but extends a hand ] That miiiight depend on what's in there, and how many countries it's illegal in.

Uh... Vodka, Sour mix, Gin, Rye, various expensive imported fruits, and a variety of herbal and prescription... additives.

I call it an Archer Kaleidoscope.

[Archer slides the actually bizarre looking concoction towards Mark, as he himself drinks from one.]

...Oh, and probably illegal in most of them. The good ones anyway. I mean, Guam probably would be cool with it. Guam's... actually, pretty chill.

... I wouldn't know. [ his nose wrinkles at the smell of the thing as he stares down into it as if it just might be acid. are you trying to get him to drink acid, archer. ] Just how many of these have you had?

[isisagent]

...One less than how many I will have had in a few moments, after I finish this one?

Also, B, do you mean today - or like, ever? Because the answer is seventeen, either way. That's right. [He lifts the drink up to eye-level.] It's a very special concoction's birthday!

[He looks back at Mark.] Merlin helped me mix it. He's no good at Lacrosse, but he can mix one hell of a drink.

Well, I'd... hate to let down ... Merlin. [ he raises it very slowly to his lips. very slowly. and seems to debating holding his nose, before he finally just takes a huge gulp all at once. ]

You know, I've been thinking about that whole... thing, after the concert. With your family, or whatever. Honestly, I wasn't really paying attention... and also I was pretty drunk. [Archer is already fast at mixing a few more drinks up - Some fancy whiskey this round, though.]

BUT you seemed to handle yourself pretty well at the morgue... And I gotta say I like your style. [Archer hands him the Whiskey.]

You remind me of a less attractive, less educated, less deadly version of myself. [Big compliment, actually.]

[ marks looks so (unsure) at how to feel about that.... and tries not to make a face at the drink. ] Not bad. [ his voice is a little thick, but never mind that. ] Uh. Thanks. I think. Although I wouldn't exactly say it's something I'm proud of. [ a beat ] What I did. Not... reminding you of yourself. [ maybe. ]

Well, yeah - obviously not that. Duh.

And, yeah - betraying everyone's trust is probably not something at the top of the "To be proud of" list - but everyone fucks up sometimes. Hell, just the other day, this bartender tried to mix me a Tom Collins with pre-made "sour mix" rather than making it all from scratch. [He shakes his head as though the mere notion of that is incredulous - in fact, several degrees more severe than any thing Mark did, and scoffs.] He's lucky I only had one bullet at the time, and Patricia Neal happened to be on the TV at the same time.

Anyway, the moral of the story is, I had to buy the bar a new TV. Also, you're a pretty o.k. guy, I guess.

I think I was supposed to feel... comforted in there somewhere but it got a little lost.

[Archer takes a sip of his Whiskey.]

That's probably just the Kaleidoscope. I'm not sure how I'm still alive right now, I'll be perfectly honest. That thing is like pure poison.

[ mark is just gonna... subtly spit some of that back in his glass with a manly cough ]

Anyway, time to go cause some trouble. Good talk, buddy.

[Archer pats him on the shoulder, and stumbles out the front door.]
