Everybody loves a media circus and the trial of Rafael Giovanni is no exception. If he was famous before, in the days following the shooting, now he's all people are talking about, and all the tabloids want to focus on. The complications presented at some of the early hearings by Jaka, regarding the identity of the Black Scourge and Rafael's alleged reaction have only made the story more appealing to the millions watching.

They've also caused the trial to drag out for months as facts are checked, evidence is poured over, and the jury becomes only more split on the issue. In the meantime, the holidays fly by, and one of the most terrible winters in years blankets Chicago in blizzards.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the last log and continuing for the next couple months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Elena and decide where to head next.

[ kat shoves the door open, bag in one hand, and kicks it shut behind her. ] What was that? Didn't hear you over the pillow you were eating.

It's a really nice pillow. [ shrug, she can't summon enough fucks to be ashamed of her habits, though she does clear a space on the bed for kat to flop down on, idly turning the volume down on the television (good luck charlie is on). ] Did you get extra duck sauce.

I got extra every sauce known to man, duh. [ she swings herself on the bed, opening the sack. ] Have at, chief.

Thanks. [ she rummages around to dig out some fried rice and duck sauce before ripping open a package of chopsticks with her teeth. ] What's the occasion?

Chinese food is awesome and so are we? Oh, and I guess it's sort of a consolation prize for how sucky it is to have to wait to get promoted so long. Fuck trials, man.

[ she pokes at the rice listlessly, her ease with chopsticks apparent, but it's not like she ever eats anything but take out. (dex 19) ] It's fine. Took me a year to get promoted in the Legion so.. [ a little shrug lifts her shoulders. ] No big deal.

Well, it's a big deal to me. Dunno if you've noticed, but me? Not exactly the world's most patient person ever. I was all excited, and then this whole mega downer waiting period.

We could always fake promote me. Like here. In the hotel. [ she glances over with a wan smile. she really doesn't care but she wants kat to be happy. ] And have cake.

That? Is an amazing idea.

Elena can totally turn into Wynn. [ assuming this is AFTER Y'ALL PRANK HER ASS ]

Oh god. Can we? [ her smile brightens immediately. ] And not tell anyone so they totally think it's Wynn at first before they realize Elena's missing.

I think it's less of a 'can we' and more of 'we must' at this point.

You're the best, Kat. [ apropos of nothing, it seems, but vi is pretty grateful kat is her mentor because she just... gets vi. and somehow always knows how to brighten her day, just by existing. ]

That's what they tell me. C'mon, you gotta get all snazzied up, you know.

What, now? [ SHE MEANT IN SOME NEBULOUS FUTURE! ]

Well, duh. Why wait?

Uh... [ she has no decent reasoning. ] I don't have anything to wear, I only bought two dresses when Elena and I went shopping and I'm not wearing funereal wear to a fake knighting.

What are your feelings on getting fake Knighted in pajamas?

Seems very true to form. [ kanyeshrug. ] Lemme just brush my teeth. And like... put lipgloss on.

Yes, sir, el Capitan. [ she rolls off the bed and pads to the bathroom because they're gonna do the thing so she's gonna brush her teeth and maybe even her hair! WHO KNOWS. THINGS ARE CRAZY, IT COULD HAPPEN. ]
