Everybody loves a media circus and the trial of Rafael Giovanni is no exception. If he was famous before, in the days following the shooting, now he's all people are talking about, and all the tabloids want to focus on. The complications presented at some of the early hearings by Jaka, regarding the identity of the Black Scourge and Rafael's alleged reaction have only made the story more appealing to the millions watching.

They've also caused the trial to drag out for months as facts are checked, evidence is poured over, and the jury becomes only more split on the issue. In the meantime, the holidays fly by, and one of the most terrible winters in years blankets Chicago in blizzards.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the last log and continuing for the next couple months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Elena and decide where to head next.

Sometimes pretending's part of keeping yourself sane. Pretend to be okay long enough and... it almost becomes true.

You can't really believe that, Mark. No one should live a lie, even for themselves.

Facing it. It hurts, but... the idea is that it might get better. And if it does, then it would be real.

Is that what you're gonna do?

[She glances down at her hands] I've been trying. But... It's not easy.

No. It's not. [ he reaches out and takes her hand. ] I'm sorry, Myri.

[witchwoman]

[She turns her hand to take his, fingers threading.]

You don't resent me, do you? For all my worrying? I've tried not to pry too much ever since... [Since the blow up about what he did at the concert.] But you don't... hate me for always being concerned?

[It's how she believes Finnick feels, and now it's bled into everything else. All she can think of is the way her concern draws away from the mission, or how it might annoy all of those around her. She's so afraid of losing them all, like a domino effect.]

Hate you? [ he turns and gives her a big hug, mindful of the ice cream bowl ] Myri, you keep me from losing my mind sometimes.

[She is just going to stretch to put the ice cream on the nightstand and then collapse back into his hug. Mark gives good hugs, okay. And she's needed some sort of physical comfort all day.]

How? All I do is fret over everything. [She mumbles it against him because yeah this hug isn't over yet.]

Surrounded by the people who still love you. No matter what.

Everything's changed, Mark. It's not as easy as that. No one's happy, not really. And every day, I have to wonder what danger I will put someone in by losing control of the urges my gift brings.

Do you really think we're not happy because of each other, or because of what everyone outside has been doing to us?

With all the fighting amongst us? Some days, I'm not certain.

Well, I am. I never would have hurt any of you if they hadn't used my every weakness against me. They're doing it to all of us, hoping we're going to self destruct.

[witchwoman]

That was different, Mark. Des and the others... no one was threatened for them to do what they did. And Finnick and I... we fell apart all on our own.

I can't exactly pretend to know much about relationships.

[witchwoman]

This was the only one I've been in that I can remember. And I ruined it because I couldn't just leave him be.

From where I was standing, he was doing a pretty fine job with the ruining himself.

[witchwoman]

[She shakes her head.] I pushed him. He didn't want to talk, but I made him. He just needed me to be there, but I... I couldn't.

Was he doing anything to try to help himself?

...No, but- [Yeah, she's got nothing]
