For the date, Brantley is dressed more casually than normal. He is wearing a blue shirt and a black dress jacket, a pair of jeans with leather belt, and a pair of brown work boots. Though he has been on lots of dates, it has been a while since he went on a date and it is pretty hard to find a women who is okay with cheesy lines and his job at the same time, so he is a little bit nervous about the date with Felicity. Now, he takes out his phone and sends her a text.

I'm waiting for you at the front door. Take your time though.

Then, he waits for her near his parked Vespa scooter while reviewing his date plan in his phone.

Felicity cases the place out of habit as they make their way inside, taking note of the exits and the number of people around. When the waiter addresses him by name without prompting, she glances towards him in amusement.

"Come here often, I take it?"

"Not that much. Let's just say, I gave him a small tip to make sure he gives us the right table." He smiles at her. Before they can continue their chat, the waiter cuts in and hands them the menu. "Well, don't hold back and order anything you like, okay?"

She takes the menu with a smile before nodding. "I guess a little bribery really does go a long way." Not that she hasn't done that before. Sometimes it's just easier to profit from people without scruples.

Brantley is an expert in bribery, in fact that's the core of his job, paying the right people to give the right service and trading some pocket money for some hot info. "True, but in this case, paying for good service is more suitable phrasing." He smiles back before spelling out some items from the menu. "I'll have the Toast with Duck Rilettes, Steak au Poivre, and the Signature Onion Soup. Also don't forget about that." He signals something as he returns the menu to the waiter.

Felicity considers, reading over the menu for a moment, before looking up with a smile. "I'll have the roast beef dip and a water. Thanks."

The waiter nods before leaving to get their order, while the singer in the background starts to sing another soothing song. The bistro is quite packed for the evening but the interior arrangement of the place gives out enough space for its customers not to feel thronged.

Brantley leans in closer to the table, resting his arms on the edge, before starting a conversation with his date. "So, you're from New York, right? What made you move to London?"

"The Institute." She throws up the cover just as easily since there may be listening ears nearby. "My mentor, Sir Cabot? He recruited me when we both tried to acquire the same diamond. He ... liked my style, I guess."

Or it may have to do with the fact that she was both good and Shadowkind friendly. She never really asked.

"Well, your style is definitely captivating." He inserts a bit of his usual compliment before continuing. "But, it's quite rare to see people working your job to join something... restrictive like the Institute." Underground worker joining a world welfare organization is not something you see daily. "Or are you the kind who likes charity works?" A modern day Robin Hood, maybe?

She shrugs a bit at that. "I have my reasons." Ones that are a little too close to the chest for her to share on a first date, but reasons all the same. "Besides. People in my line of work help people all the time. I saw it on TV."

If she doesn't want to share, that's fine. Brantley isn't the type who pries on other people's business. Unless it is for business, of course. He chuckles a bit, hearing her answer. "Maybe I need to watch more TV then. Reality comes a bit dark nowadays."

"I think it's a more than adequate distraction. People in the thirties had it right. The movies and the idiot box are definitely the way to go." Felicity has had enough badness in her life. She takes any escape she can get.

"Movies are not bad, but I prefer outdoor activities. Though, romance flick once in a while can be quite refreshing." Brantley is kind of hopeless romantic, and he likes to pick up some lines from the movies. "Maybe you can give me some recommendation?"

"Sure," she says with a nod. "Though my feelings on romantic comedies are mixed." Meaning her usual likes may not be in his wheelhouse, but she'll try and nudge him into trying them anyway.

"No problem, I'm not that hard to entertain. Either romantic comedies or action movies, if you think they're good, then I'm game." He replies with a smile. Just give him movies with a cast full of attractive stars and chance he'll like them anyway.

She smiles a bit at that. Asking her to pick what they watch can be a recipe for disaster if their tastes don't match at all, but he seems pretty open, so that's a good sign. "Then maybe next time we can have a movie date."

"Of course. Just give me a call whenever you feel like it." He continues to smile as he hears her offer. Not long after, a waiter comes and serves the bread basket to the table. A second waiter follows and brings in Brantley's appetizer, Toast with Duck Rilettes.

"Well, feel free to steal some nibbles." He offers with a smile as the waiters leave. "Since we're in the topic of movies, what's your favorite movie?" His eyes are fixated on Felicity but his hand moves around, preparing one of his toast with the rilettes.

Felicity will take that information, reaching forward for one of the toast points as she considers that for a moment. There have been many movies over the years, but if she had to pick one ...

"The Italian Job. Not the old one, but the remake. It's weird, I know, but ... I was just enthralled."

"That's a heist movie, right? I know that movie is quite famous. But I've never actually seen it." He doesn't watch movies a lot but at least The Italian Job is famous enough he has heard of it (know(pop) 10). "What's so good about the remake?" He asks before putting the toast into his mouth.

"Mark Wahlberg." Well, at least she's honest. Then she shrugs. "It's a really good cast, and a really good twist on the original plot. I though the first one was kind of boring." She takes a bite of the toast point before looking up with a smile. "I'll add it to the list for movie night."

"That would be nice." Brantley gives a brief nod with a smile. He takes another bite of his toast before continuing the conversation. "So other than watching movies, what do you do in your spare time?"

She considers for a moment. "I've been doing a lot of wandering. I've been to London before, but I never got the chance to really explore. Downtime is a good time to learn your way around if you can."

"Well, I know London like the back of my hand, so if you need a tour guide, I am always available." Brantley smiles a bit right before cleaning up the remaining of his appetizer. He has spent more than a decade in London, doing jobs all over the city, so he knows London, both the metropolis and what lies in its shadow, like his own backyard.

"I will keep that in mind. Sometimes I just like to wander on my own, though. Helps me recenter." Reminds her that sometimes, she does need to be an island, for the sake of her own sanity. Even if that time doesn't necessarily last for long.

"Yeah, I understand. Sometimes being alone is the best thing you can do to gather your mind." He replies with a smile. Then he continues the conversation as the waiter serves the dishes. When the main course is served, the waiter also brings in a bottle of 30 years old Cabernet Sauvignon that is specially ordered for their date. As they enjoy the food and the wine, Brantley keeps filling the conversation with his flirtatious commentaries, until they reach the end of their dinner where he suddenly looks away and stays in silence for a moment, seemingly hesitating to do something. "Hey..after this... umm... do you mind if we go off the plan and make a quick detour?"

"I love deviating from the plan," she says with a bit of a smile, before tilting her head at him curiously. "What kind of detour are we talking?"
