It's Valentine's Day! All around people are happily snuggling up with their loved one or drowning their feelings in booze and/or ice cream. Give out cards or chocolate or commiserate with other single people! Whoo Valentine's Day!

[ the door opens after just a moment, and val'drin looks stunned, even if he already looks excessively fine himself (he rolled a 19 today, plus a billion). his eyes cut up and down her as his eyebrows lift to his hairline. ]

... I might have sworn I woke up this morning, but it seems I'm still dreaming.

[socialgraces]

[ she smirks, obviously delighted by his response ] And yet your imagination still pales in comparison, I hope.

Can I come in?

The only reason I'm sure you're actually standing here, actually. [ he makes way, reaching one hand out to rest on her waist ] Please do.

[socialgraces]

[ she lets him guide her inside, and she removes her strategic red scarf from around her neck as he closes the door, revealing that amazingly huge diamond resting against a generous show of cleavage. then she turns into his touch, kissing him with a decent amount of passion ] Happy Valentine's Day.

I thought I'd return the favor with a surprise romantic gesture of my own.

[valdrin]

[ his eyes glint with pleasure when he sees she's wearing it so openly, and he returns the kiss with nearly possessive enthusiasm. ] Happy Valentine's Day. I knew there was a reason I was avoiding the rest of the castle today...

[socialgraces]

I know it seems cliché, but you can't blame me for finding any excuse to see you. [ as she pulls herself tighter against him for a moment, very receptive to his behavior ] Four months, again. It's straight torture.

[valdrin]

[ teasing: ] Have you considered simply throwing the trial yet? It seems a small loss, really.

[socialgraces]

I think Giovanni's lawyer has done quite a good job of that already. [ she rolls her eyes, but she's still smiling up fondly at him, because this is quite nice, and she really did miss him... a lot ] But for now I suppose we're confined to these spontaneous trysts.

[valdrin]

Remind me to send a thank you card to the lawyer.

[socialgraces]

[ she chuckles ] Trust me, he deserves no gratitude, nor does he need the encouragement.

[ she slides her hands up to his shoulders ] Was I right to assume you might be free for the weekend?

[valdrin]

Well, I had an engagement with the Queen, but I'll have to break it off now. Tea can wait.

[socialgraces]

How considerate. Well, not to the Queen, but... [ she smirks ] I think you were right in avoiding the rest of the castle, and... I made us reservations, and booked a hotel. I hope that's alright.

[valdrin]

I'm not certain 'alright' covers it, entirely.

[socialgraces]

[ even if he doesn't seem perturbed by her need to take this outside the castle, she can't help but feel a little guilty ] Quite wonderful, right? I just thought outside the castle we might have a bit more... privacy.

[ and then her guilt gets the best of her ] I told Christos, about us. [ which isn't entirely true, but close enough... ]

[valdrin]

[ val'drin's grip tenses slightly, his face tightening ] Did you, now.

[socialgraces]

Yes. [ but she doesn't sound all that confident with her decision ] It just sort of... came up. But I didn't think we'd be able to keep it a secret forever.

[valdrin]

And when was this?

[socialgraces]

A couple months ago, now, I guess. Why? Did he say something to you?

[valdrin]

He hasn't said much at all. I thought it was strange. He usually can't stop himself from making remarks about everything.

[socialgraces]

[ the corner of her mouth quirks up just slightly ] Well, at least you're free of his snide comments for the time being ... In general, I mean, not about [ she motions between them ] this. Really, it's rather decent, for him.

[valdrin]

I suppose it is. But I'd rather not talk about him on today of all days.

[socialgraces]

No, no, me either. [ she gives him a small smile ] So, you're not upset with me? Or if you are, I understand, I just couldn't see a reason to lie to him, or you.

[valdrin]

What part of 'not talking about him' isn't getting through here? [ now is a good time to pour himself a drink. or six. ]

[socialgraces]

[ wow. ouch. she closes her eyes briefly as he moves away, trying her best to hide her pained expression. ] I don't want to talk about him, I want to talk about you. I asked how you were feeling.

[valdrin]

[ he doesn't even pour her a glass because he's too concerned with taking a swig and trying to compose himself, and failing. ] I'm not angry.
