It's Valentine's Day! All around people are happily snuggling up with their loved one or drowning their feelings in booze and/or ice cream. Give out cards or chocolate or commiserate with other single people! Whoo Valentine's Day!

She laughs before she shrugs her shoulders.

"Maybe just a little bit." Everyone is fucked up, after all. It's just a matter of how much.

She gives his hand a gentle squeeze, or as gentle as she ever is. "Better to jump in headfirst than to regret you didn't later." The worst that could happen was it didn't work out. Even if she has her baggage and her reservations, doing things because something bad might happen wasn't one of them.

"Right. Exactly." No, that's sort of the opposite of how he leads his life, but that's the problem isn't it? He's barely living his life at all. So it's better to just fucking go for it, right?

"Speaking of- time to dive in for some sushi." It's a joke because fish. Also, I don't eat sushi so have a random fish based rolled food thing, Bo. Fuck if I know what it is. But he's got chop sticks and picking a piece up to try to feed it to her. Luckily, he's not a total klutz right now (dex 16).

"It almost looks too pretty to eat, not that that's ever stopped me."

Bo, stop yourself. Though, really, there are too many sushi based sex jokes she could make here, it's not even funny.

I eat sushi like a boss, so it's totally a crunchy roll because they're delicious and good for beginners but still fancy. And wow, such pro with those sticks oh yes.

Excuse her, she'll just be letting him drop that delicious morsel right into her mouth and be polite while she chews and swallows.

Okay, saying things like that? Cheating. It's a good thing he had such a good dex check because wow he might have dropped the roll after hearing that. But once she's got the bite in her mouth, he pulls back and grabs one for himself, watching her for any sort of negative reaction.

"Good, yeah?"

Her expression is one of approval, even mild surprise.

"Better than anything raw has any right to be." Except Crunchy Rolls aren't raw, so gj Bo. "I think I might need at least a couple more to really decide."

That last bit? Sarcasm. The restaurant is a winner.

"Well, we've got plenty." He says with a grin. Yay! She likes it! Andrew picks out something else for her and nudges it towards her, but he hands her a set of chopsticks so that she can try picking it up on her own. Or maybe she's a pro with it and just doesn't do sushi. Guess he will find out!

"So the rest of the night is sort of up to you. There's a few clubs around here. We could go dancing. And by that I mean I can watch you dance while I stand there. Or..."so hopeful for this long shot. "There's a theater down the way that's showing a black and white horror movie marathon?"

It may be Valentine's Day but it's still Andrew. At least he's presenting options!

Bo takes the chopsticks, and apparently she'll probably manage to get that piece in her mouth eventually (dex 14) without losing too much rice in the process.

She looks a little thoughtful as she chews. She's all for clubs sometimes, but this date sure isn't about getting her dance on alone.

"Horror movies it is." She gives him a knowing look. "Maybe we can snag some seats in the back row. If we're lucky, it'll be empty."

She's like a fucking teenager sometimes, I swear.

He can't help but grin like an idiot at her suggestion. It wasn't at all what he meant by it, but he will definitely be on board. He's never had a girl want to make out with him (or more???) in the back of a theater so this is kind of exciting.

"So what's something about you I don't know yet? Any weird phobias? Imaginary friends as a kid? I know the Veil sort of makes some of it hard but... I just want to know you."

Bo chuckles, shaking her head.

"Any childhood stories are a no go, though given what things were like when I popped through the Veil? That's probably a good thing. I've got seven days worth of pre-Veil memories, and they aren't great ones."

She pops another piece of sushi in her mouth, chews thoughtfully and swallows.

"Let's see. My favorite color is black, if that wasn't completely obvious. Though I would say blue and purple might come in a close second and third."

"Mine's green. Which is sort of the worst when you're an Irish transplant. Sort of a walking stereotype in that, I guess." He doesn't seem that upset about it, really. On the scale of things that he gets insecure about, this is minor.

"Only seven days? I can't imagine it. I mean I know loads of people from through the Veil. But it's just one of those things you can't really know unless you've been through it."

"Doesn't sound any more stereotypical than a succubus who prefers black leather and thigh high boots."

Which is what she's wearing 90 percent of the time. Just saying. They can be walking stereotypes together.

"You get kind of used to it. I'm guessing I have a lot of memories that I don't exactly mind losing."

He doesn't want to press her about her past, especially since he knows what she remembers can't be all that great, or she would probably talk about it freely.

"All the more reason to make better memories, yeah?"

Her expression is both impressed and approving.

"Exactly. I think we can add this one to my favorites list."

And to think, she'd never been much of a Valentine's Day girl before.

The grin he gives her could be very easily described as dopey.

"Yeah? Well... good. Yeah, that's great actually. I'm glad you're having a good time. Because I am too. Really good." Pinching himself every day of his life for how he got so lucky. "So did I successfully convert you into a sushi lover, then?"

"I think you're well on your way. I'm just going to have to try a few more."

But it's pretty clear that she's definitely digging it. She's the adventurous type in almost everything. A little raw fish was never going to scare her.

"Mmm, fair enough. Try this out then." And he hands over something spicier. It's one of his favorites. I still don't eat sushi and researching sushi is just like idk fish stuff.

"I try to make it myself at the castle sometimes. It mostly just turns into a pile of rice and fish on a plate with seaweed draped on top, but..." He shrugs. An attempt was made.

Spicy tuna? Red Dragon? WHATEVER I BET IT'S FUCKING DELICIOUS.

"Well, considering how they're like tiny works of art, you probably have to go to school or something, right?"

Not that Bo would really know. She can't cook. Sorry, Andrew.

"Culinary school, maybe. Fish 101. Actually since it's pretty advanced it would be like Fish 452- how to roll this shit with rice." That's definitely the technical course name. Yep.

She practically snorts when she laughs. She loves his sense of humor, okay.

"Hey, they made this other one look literally like a caterpillar. I can't tell if they went to culinary or art school."

"Probably a weird combination of both. Gotta give 'em credit though. Really does look like a fucking caterpillar." He starts laughing then, nearly seeming like his nerves are gone.

She's just going to straight up snag the head of that Caterpiller Roll because yum. Goodbye caterpillar.

"We'll need to go to one of those places where the cook the food on the table in front of you, too."

Well, now it will never grow up to be a butterfly roll. Rude.

"Hibachi? Think that's what it's called. Never been to one but they look really cool." He grabs part of the caterpillar's mid section to devour.

It'll deal. Or not. Whatever.

"That sounds right? Japanese, at least." She snags another, too, grinning after she swallows. "Then it's a date."

"Another one. Seem to be making a habit of those." And he's completely okay with that, which is pretty obvious by the enormous grin he has when he says that.

"So what's something you haven't been able to do yet but really want to? Here in the city or just anywhere."

She grabs another piece, chewing thoughtfully.

"Oh, I don't now. I want to go bungee-jumping someday. Or fly in a helicopter, maybe. Hell, I'll try pretty much anything once."
