It's over. After months of being sidelined by the trial of their friend Rafael, the Knights are finally free to return to England and see what headway the Dragon's Claws have made on discovering the location of the Talisman they seek.

But not everyone is so free to return. The consequence of getting Burt's assistance in disentangling Finnick from his contract and super-stardom was an ironclad agreement that allows Burt to sink his claws fully into Rafael's career. Considering that Burt knows their secret identity, non-disclosure agreement or not, the executive's renowned moral gray-itude doesn't exactly make it seem like a great plan to back out on the compromise.

They've at least been able to put off their goodbyes for a few days since the end of the trial, as Burt invited all of them to New York City for the opening of his brand new nightclub. Some of them flew out, while Archer and Des presumably drove their matching El Caminos cross-country in the days between. But now they've all met again in the Big Apple, for a celebration - and farewell of sorts.

[ rafael turns to stare at burt with anger swimming in his eyes (will save 16) -- but buffy's light touch seems to help remind him that breaking burt's face is a bad call, and he gets a nat 20 to restrain any violent urges that might be darkening his imagination currently. instead he grabs the handle with a death grip and throws the door open on this side as well, saying tightly: ] I do not hear anyone laughing. [ and with that he gets out, yanking his suit coat straight again as shouts of "RAFAEL! MR. GIOVANNI!" sail out of the crowd and the picture taking frenzy goes wilder. ]

[Archer doesn't really chafe at the name, he didn't know Jade very well. Were it not for this reminder, he may have actually forgotten it, he's pretty abysmal with names.]

If it's any consolation, Burt, I think the name is... just... okay.

[And with that he's meandering toward the Alcohol.]

[he could join in on the lecture to burt that is obviously on the horizon from buffy or he could ... not care. yeah, that's what's happening. sorry jade. he's honestly not that surprised at this coming from burt. it's very capitol exploitation-esque.] Yeah.

[yeah what????? we'll never know, as he goes with archer in pursuit of the booze.]

[ to the surprise of no one, vi follows finnick. it's not like she hasn't been honest about why she's stuck around for this party: elena and finnick. so. ]

[ kat is too busy gearing herself up for the long walk past the crowd in that dress of hers to really argue with burt. she lets out a breath slowly, psyching herself up, before mumbling: ] Fuck. [ and then shoving the door open and getting out as fast as she can. ... and taking a few stumbling steps in her heels as she gets to her feet too quickly. gar is after her in a flash, grabbing her arm to steady her and keep her from face planting, and together they head inside. ]

[ luthir folds out of the limo gracefully, and moves up next to vi to take her arm, giving it a squeeze, ignoring the many flashes of light as he regards the building with mild curiosity. ]

[ Mark pauses enough to affix Burt with an openly judgmental stare before he gets out. ]

Not cool.

[ well since rafael and des have flounced off, buffy keeps her lecture short. really short. and not lecture-like at all. she sneers at burt, shaking her head once they're basically the only ones left in the car. ]

You're revolting.

[ she turns and follows the others out, pushing down her look of embittered disgust in favor of something more neutral. she's certainly not going to pretend she's happy to be here, but she can keep herself from actively spoiling it, at least. ]

[OH MY GOD THEYRE ALL AGREEING ON SOMETHING, even if it's causing misery. Small victories.

She heads out of the car and after Vi, too. Because drinks needed pronto.]

[ with only a couple people left in the vehicle, isabella sees fit to do a lot worse than the boys in curbing her violent instincts.

she reaches out, grabs burt's tie and yanks him to within inches of her face. ] You disgrace Jade's memory, and insult Rafael.

Find a way to be his manager without doing either, or you will find out very quickly that Rafael's friends are just as - or more - dangerous than he can be.

[ with that, she releases him and gets out, all forced smiles to the cameras and waves. ]

[ burt sits there as the others empty of the vehicle, looking kind of confused by the string of reactions. finally, he mumbles to himself: ] There's just no winning with you twatwaffles. [ and then out he goes himself, having smoothed down his tie.

the doors are thrown open for them, because fancy people don't open their own doors, and they're issued inside the Eternal Jade, where the driving beat of music lends a soundtrack to the flurry of activity. the place is packed, and a dizzying spectacle of funky colors and lights meet the eyes in every direction. alcohol flows freely from several bars in every corner of the place, and neon-lit stairways wind up the vertically oriented building to various private rooms, stages, and dance floors.

it's hard to deny that it's a nice place, but for those who managed to maintain any memory of nightscape, it pales in comparison to the scale of things. burt waves them up a staircase as their entrance draws a lot of stares and lingering looks from patrons who recognize rafael and finnick instantly. luckily, the patrons of this kind of place are all too busy trying to look cool to fangirl out over them in general, so they pass undisturbed up to a room full of large white furniture pieces sprawled out here and there, that affords a view of the floor below through large one-way window panels. what look like lava lamps are built into the walls at intervals, providing strange moving lights that color everyone's faces here and there. ] This is our private room, but obviously you don't have to stick around here, and you're allowed to invite anyone you want up. Just make sure you let Vincent know they've got the okay. [ he points near the door. that must be vincent. he looks nice. ]

Yeah, god forbid the legions of screaming club kids we're gonna have pawing us get bounced. [Des moves over to the window panels and looks out over the crowd, either scanning it or just trying to figure out at WHAT POINT did Burt consider any of this relevant enough to Jade to bear her name.]

[ gar moves beside him to look out curiously, with an uncertain half-frown ] I suppose this isn't... so bad.

[shootfirst]

What's the point in going out to the club if you're just gonna watch the club through a window? Pretty sure they have webcam shows for that kinda thing in Europe. If we're here, we're gonna party. [ she grabs gar by the arm and hauls her towards the steps and bouncer ] Move it, Muscles. We have some very important imbibing of alcohol to do. And maybe we'll even punch some dudes in the face. [ to gar: ] I really think you could benefit from punching a grown man in the face at least once in your life. [ she looks back over her shoulder ] Buffy? Elena? Vi? You in on this action?

I know I'd like to see Gar punch someone.

[Spike grins as he follows them towards the door. Whatever else happens tonight, it's certain to be interesting.]

[rationalizes]

I'm certainly not intending to punch anybody! [ no really. she gets so agitated at the idea that she practically trips in those heels on the steps, flailing out an arm to nearly knock kat over and it's just... a hot mess out there. they haven't even started drinking yet. actual secret agents. ]

[slay]

All over it. If we're out here, and I'm in a thousand-dollar dress, I'm dancing. [ she follows after kat hastily. ] Don't worry. [ she pats gar on the back. ] I'll punch 'em for you, and we'll have another lawsuit on our hands.

[ a couple of ridiculously tall women in dresses that look 3 sizes too small for them, move past the girls on the steps and vincent steps aside to let them in, prompting a pleased grin from burt. ] Ah! They're here. Rafael, Finnick: meet Candi and Amber. They both work high end modeling gigs here in the Big Apple, real class acts. [ and yet. they look like high end call girls. rafael raises one eyebrow from his seat. ] We've all had a rough year, so I thought you might appreciate some company to unwind. These girls are great... conversationalists. [ his jackass grin only widens as he lets his eyes drag over one of them. ]

[Since Des has to wait for Burt to get drunk to even get him to consider the idea of releasing Rafael from his indentured servitude for a little while, he follows after the group, grabbing Rafael as he goes.]

Actually, Burt, I promised Rafael tequila shots back at the hotel. He's never done them before, the poor lamb. He's in for a treat.

[He raises an eyebrow and looks between Burt and one of the girls, suggesting that if he returns with a drunk Rafael, then all that "conversation" Burt's trying to initiate will actually be worth something. No one wants a sulky Rafael, Burt.

In reality, Rafael may never return to this room again, but it's important that Burt thinks this.]

Yeah, no, sorry, Finnick has a date. [ the look she gives the girls, both of them, just barely matches he glare she gives burt. (intimidate nat 20, 22 total) she's taking over myri's burt scaring duties, i guess. but no. sorry finnick. ]

[ buffy doesn't even get the chance to fully turn around all offended-like before des is swooping in and rescuing rafael from getting laid. what a hero. her mouth hangs briefly agape, and she scrutinizes des like she's trying to sort out his actual motives. he can't really be being helpful. that can't be all. ]

You know, that sounds like a great plan. [ she turns back to kat. ] Let's tequila.

[ rafael recognizes that save, des, bless you. however else rafael might feel about your life, he doesn't look at all enthused at the prospect of getting to know candi better. or amber. or... anyone burt has ever recommended ever. he's quick to get to his feet and follow them, saying: ] Can you believe I have never had occasion to try it before?

[And out they go...] I know. It's awful. Aren't you glad I came along? Except for the part where no one can do as many shots as me and you'll end up under the- [OKAY ARE THEY OUT OF BURT'S EARSHOT NOW? Good.]

Every time I think it can't get worse ... [ biiiig sigh. ] Let's just hope Finnick politely sends them on their way. Or ... Vi terrified them into running first chance.
