It's over. After months of being sidelined by the trial of their friend Rafael, the Knights are finally free to return to England and see what headway the Dragon's Claws have made on discovering the location of the Talisman they seek.

But not everyone is so free to return. The consequence of getting Burt's assistance in disentangling Finnick from his contract and super-stardom was an ironclad agreement that allows Burt to sink his claws fully into Rafael's career. Considering that Burt knows their secret identity, non-disclosure agreement or not, the executive's renowned moral gray-itude doesn't exactly make it seem like a great plan to back out on the compromise.

They've at least been able to put off their goodbyes for a few days since the end of the trial, as Burt invited all of them to New York City for the opening of his brand new nightclub. Some of them flew out, while Archer and Des presumably drove their matching El Caminos cross-country in the days between. But now they've all met again in the Big Apple, for a celebration - and farewell of sorts.

[Spike finally wanders away from where he has been trying (unsuccessfully: fort 21) to get drunk because shit's getting weird and he's... finally noticed the team meeting going on. He shoots Rafael a mostly undeserved glower before looking over to Buffy.]

rafael squeezes des' shoulder once, before steeling himself and heading for the steps. ] She would not come here without a reason. Perhaps she ... has something to tell us. [ and up up up he goes, looking dazed and determined simultaneously. ]

[Des nods dumbly and follows him, although with a considerably more wary pace, almost as if he's afraid to face what's waiting.]

[ with her spot of 26 and her wis of 20 total, she knows what's up, but she uses that spot check instead to notice elena dragging archer over and she grabs the remaining coffee off the table to silently hold it out to the girl as she approaches. don't worry, boo, she's got your caffeine all up in here. she doesn't move to follow des or raf. ]

If it... is a trap, perhaps it would be a good idea for someone to-- to go with them? [ gar frowns, but her eyes skate towards buffy because whether she understands it or not, she at least gets that the three of them seem all ridiculously bound up in each other, even when they're not getting along. but she looks away from her almost immediately, as if she's afraid to actually ask that of buffy. ]

[ buffy catches gar's gaze and unfortunately know what it means. it's on her. she deflates visibly, and even though gar never voiced the direct request, she holds up a hand as she begins to turn away. ] I got it.

[ she trudges up after des and rafael at a slight jog to push through the crowds. ]

[Spike glances back at the group for a moment before following after Buffy. It's what he does, after all. She might be going to have Des and Rafael's back, but who'll have her back?

Besides, if he's lucky, it's one of those traps they can punch their way out of.]

[ vi idly watches them go. ] So who else wants to storm Blade's castle? 'cause I sure don't.

As long as it involves setting a fireworks bomb off before, during, or after - count me in. I'm not picky.

[Yep. He's totally thinking of this Blade. Archer doesn't do names, give him a break.]
