It's over. After months of being sidelined by the trial of their friend Rafael, the Knights are finally free to return to England and see what headway the Dragon's Claws have made on discovering the location of the Talisman they seek.

But not everyone is so free to return. The consequence of getting Burt's assistance in disentangling Finnick from his contract and super-stardom was an ironclad agreement that allows Burt to sink his claws fully into Rafael's career. Considering that Burt knows their secret identity, non-disclosure agreement or not, the executive's renowned moral gray-itude doesn't exactly make it seem like a great plan to back out on the compromise.

They've at least been able to put off their goodbyes for a few days since the end of the trial, as Burt invited all of them to New York City for the opening of his brand new nightclub. Some of them flew out, while Archer and Des presumably drove their matching El Caminos cross-country in the days between. But now they've all met again in the Big Apple, for a celebration - and farewell of sorts.

[ Buffy likes to keep options open ok. She pauses then does a double take. ] Wait. With those fireworks? How did you guys even get that on the plane? [ every planning thread needs comedically times relief ok. ]

[Des wanders back after Elena. Some of his hair is wet and plastered a bit to his forehead and he looks a bit rumpled, but otherwise he seems to be in much higher spirits than he was back in the room with Jade.]

I leave for five minutes and we're blowing things up.

[He runs a hand along the side of his jaw and leans on the bar.]

Now, personally, I wanna see Blade's face before I blow it into oblivion, but that's just me.

[A beat, and he looks at Archer to answer Buffy's question.] You forget someone drove, Blondie. [He can't forget, BECAUSE ARCHER KEPT TRYING TO DRAG RACE HIM TO NEW YORK.]

We're not blowing anything up. That club could be full of innocent bystanders - and we know it's likely that Nadia is there, not to mention Dumage.

Seeee! I keep telling you that Gar will be pissed.

[Actually, that was just what she told Finnick ages ago, but whatever.]

That's not technically true, Jeanne. You are continually blowing up my dreams. So, at least we have that.

[Deep sigh, and a big swig from his flask.]

Can I at least kick somebody's ass? It's been like weeks!

[Explosions or not, Des just really wants to bring the pain, okay. It's a clear decision to him so long as Vi stays behind·

Des pulls a set of keys out of his pocket.] That reminds me- anyone who stays behind oughta not go back to the hotel. You can hang in my apartment until we get back, just in case Blade really does try to pull something . He might know we don't plan on bringing Vi.

[graveflowers]

[ vi narrows her eyes as she snatches the keys out of his hand. ] I'm not a pet, Des. You don't decide to bring me places or not. I already said I'm not going.

[finnick catches vi's glance from several comments ago, and understands what it means with their psychic twins powers. (wis 19) and decides to ... act on that.] I'll stay back with you, Vi.

Okay. So, Vi and Finnick hang back, and the rest of us go to pay Keijen a visit. [ at least, she's taking gar's conscientious objection to exploding the club to mean she's coming to babysit. welcome aboard, lady librarian. ] So, where do we find him?

[ oh except at that moment, rafael wanders up, phone still out in his hand, looking shocked and speechless. something's up. ]

I called Isabella. She said... [ he frowns, shaking his head ] Only that I should not come rescue her this time - that she could handle this herself. And then she hung up.

Save herself from what?

What do you think? Only one guy in town tonight who is probably jonesing to get Rafael to come to him.

[he looks at gar.] Say the word.

[look sometimes he acknowledges gar is the leader.]

[rationalizes]

[ gar pales. ] She went alone? [ GD ALL YOU CRAZY NON-KNIGHTS GOING AROUND WITH YOUR SHENANIGANS. ]

We don't have any time to waste, then.

Finnick, Vi, we'll reconvene with you at Mr. Descant's apartment later tonight... Those who've been over-indulging tonight will be waiting in the car - I think we're far past time to run an extraction for Dumage. I'll oversee back-up operations should anything go wrong. We'll send in a smaller group to try and draw out Blade's 'trap', rather than all walking straight into it - those who feel equipped to handle whatever he might throw at us.

[ she glances at rafael ] And I... I assume you'll be coming as well?
