What was supposed to be a night to unwind wound up with a confrontation between Failboat and Keijen Blade that didn't exactly go the way the team was hoping for. However, in the process, they at least managed to get Isabella back and extract Dumage from her long term undercover assignment.

The remainder of the night is spent back at the hotel, recuperating, in order to catch the flight back to London the next morning. This also means saying goodbye to those who will be going back to Chicago: Isabella, Burt, and Rafael.

There's her tendency to use me as a punching bag as well. [But he sounds pretty fond when he says that. Clearly it doesn't bother him all that much.] Still more than you've come up with for bloody wonderful Rafael. And he's shot a lot more teammates than Buffy has.

Rafael is stubborn, and foolish, and does not think ahead, and makes reckless decisions with his heart on a whim. Believe me. I see him very clearly.

That does not mean anything, when it comes to how I feel.

Course not. Heart wants what the heart wants, and as far as I can tell everyone's heart wants bloody Rafael.

[Not that Spike's bitter.]

I hope you are not looking for an apology, for that.

I'm not looking for an apology. [He doesn't know what he's looking for, but an apology wouldn't do crap.]

I just... don't understand it is all. I've heard better music. And seen more attractive blokes, too.

The most attractive thing about Rafael has nothing to do with his looks or his voice.

It is his passion. The fire with which he fights for what he believes in.

[bigbad]

[Spike rolls his eyes.]

Other people are passionate, love. He's hardly that unique.

[savemyself]

[ she shakes her head ] People have things they care about, si, but the strength of his beliefs... that is something else entirely. He could set the world on fire with that passion.

[bigbad]

Cause that's what the world needs. More fire. [Spike's just biased cause he spends half his life on fire.] Considering how many people his beliefs have gotten killed, I'm still not seeing how that's a good thing. [And privately, he's betting that if Rafael were a bit less handsome, his strength of beliefs wouldn't be nearly as attractive. Funny how that works.]

You cannot pretend to know what we have been through. So do not insult us by trying.

[bigbad]

Touchy subject? [He raises his eyebrows.] I know enough to realize there's about as much of a we there as me and Buffy have. You can admire his fire all you want. It's not burning for you.

[He's talking to himself at least a little bit here.]

Enough. If that is all you have to say, I have heard all I wish to.

[bigbad]

Maybe. But you know as well as I do I've got a point. Do yourself a favor, love, and get over him. [He'd love to be over Buffy. He knows it doesn't come remotely easily.

He shakes his head.]

Look, I don't want to fight. [Even if he's right.] I wanted to say goodbye.

I suppose this is not the way to do so, no.

[He shrugs, glancing away. This would have been a lot less awkward if he hadn't opened with all that jealousy.]

So long, Isabella. I liked dueling with you.

Perhaps next time you will be able to keep up.

[He gives her a slim smile.] I'll keep practicing. Take care of yourself.
