Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Emma's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Fire members and Gold, Wynn, and Hasmed wait up at the front of the room for Emma to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides from the other sect members.

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice: "Approach and kneel, Sir Emma Swan."

Are you doing this to get your father back or to help Amara?

Since when are you in a position to be critical of anyone's motives? [ she looks affronted. she is affronted. admittedly, hook's alliance with them, in his mind, was longer tinged with desperation to kill the dark one—back in the enchanted forest, that is—but emma hasn't forgotten it. more presently, though ... ] Are you helping because there are two people's lives on the line or to get into my pants?

I wasn't being critical. [He spins her so her back is against him, his arms wrapped around her.] If your only wish is to bring your father back in the most expedient manner, I'll back your play. Help you in any way I can.

[He spins her back out, into the basic waltz position.]

But perhaps, love, your reaction just now proves that if you were to take this path, you ought to think hard about your own motives, lest you prove to be the critical one. [Diplomacy 32.]

[ she steps back out easily, setting her jaw stubbornly. it only makes her more frustrated to be completely aware that he’s got a point there. it’s not the ideal solution, but she’s beginning to doubt that there is an ideal here. ]

It saves Amara from the curse and gets David back. If there's a chance it'll work, we should try it. It's better than sitting on our hands.

I agree. We should find out who can do it and how it's done. It's just... [His expression softens.] We've both lost memories, Swan. Ones we may be happier without, who can say, but there's still a hole there, one I can never ignore for as long as I'd like. We can't do that to her lightly.

[uncurse]

The difference is that what she's feeling isn't real. Taking that away from her isn't the same as—as losing a part of ourselves to the Veil. It's putting things back to the way they're meant to be. [ she hadn't stripped anybody's agency or made some grave error in breaking the curse and restoring people's true identities, even if it had deprived them of their naive complacence in their cursed lives. to emma, this is no different. ]

But it's not her feelings we're dealing with. It's her memories. Those are real.

[He glances down and inclines his head into a bit of a nod.]

But I know of no other way to erase True Love. Perhaps false love is treated the same.

[uncurse]

[ she drops her hands and steps back as the song ends. ]

Then, maybe it’s time we started taking this seriously and looked into it.

A plan at last. Lila should be pleased, at least.

[uncurse]

It's not a plan until we know we can do it. [ a beat. ] And the cost.

[And doesn't magic always come with a price.] It may be high. Such a powerful curse can't be broken cheaply.

If it means bringing David home, I don't care.

[That answers the motives question, at least. He nods at her.] Try and enjoy the rest of the party. Might be a good time to start feeling out who the players of your new sect are. I'd wager someone here tonight could tell you about memory spells.

[ she nods, ready to excuse herself. ] Let me know if you hear anything.
