Just as before, accessing the secret room where the Round Table is housed requires using the Knight's keycard to open the glass case beside the mural of the War in Heaven, located across from the ballroom entrance. Using the fire extinguisher as a lever to activate the "door" mechanism reveals the long torch-lit hall plastered in artwork depicting the Knight's history. The tenants of the Knighthood hang large and foreboding over the doors at the end of the hall, which stand open to reveal the brightly lit Round Table, and the majestic crystalline dragon statue presiding over it.

Come in, find a seat, meet your teammates if you haven't already. Wynn ain't even here, just Hasmed.

Guys. We're here for a mission briefing -- is this really the time?

[ emma swan, slayer of fun, shows up right on time to nip that in the bud. she pulls up a seat beside gold because she's not sitting by gossiping teenagers hell naw. ]

[EXCUSE U ASTRID IS NOT A TEENAGER. it's also at this point that she recognizes gold. and ignores emma.] Oh, I remember you! May-December! How was Valentine's Day?

[Flatly, because if he's super shirty, she might start in about the condoms again or something. God help him. He's going to die on this mission.]

But as Ms. Swan pointed out, now is not really the time.

[ ok despite her party pooping, astrid's question gets emma's head whipping around. she looks at gold, eyes widening briefly. she knows what that may-december shit is, ok, that's fucking belle. or potentially fucking belle, let's not get ahead of ourselves, i guess. she doesn't seem like a first-date type. there's a little glow of excitement in her eyes because while it's not quite watching her parents get together, it is ... watching fairytales happen. ]

Belle? You went out with Belle?

[ This was clearly the BEST time for the tall newbie to walk in. He had left his cat back in the room just in case having her would be frowned upon. Keeping his mouth shut for now he moved and took a seat.]

That was months ago.

[And they're probably dating now, but GOD WHY DOES ANYONE CARE. LOOK. THE LAST PERSON'S HERE. HASMED, SAY SOMETHING.]

[Faye turns to Gold and her eyebrows raise up and up and up. She did not know you were into hot librarian ass. She approves.]

Oh but we can talk about it later, right?

[Her gaze flicks briefly to the new guy, looking him over with an appraising glance. Not bad. You can stay.]

[wow she doesn't actually give that much of a shit about gold's lovelife. and mars! she remembers him. so she gives him a little wave.]

Wynn is coming, right?

He is not. [ hasmed takes that as his fucking cue b/c thank god a reason for a subject change, he's been side-eyeing all you fuckers. ] Wynn being occupied, he's asked me to lead this briefing myself, considering that it's a mission I've asked him to organize.

[Blessed subject change. Gold sits up a little straighter and gets his team leader hat on.]

One that deeply concerns the Dragon's Fire and, potentially, Amara.

[He gives Emma a knowing look.]

Did you find something that could break the curse?

[charismapotion]

[ he smiled back at Astrid and listened to the others talk.]

[astrid has only heard bits and pieces of the amara story, so the conclusion she comes to is ... pretty special. (wis 13)] Oh, is this about Lila's friend?

[The mention of Amara makes Faye sit up straighter. She's listening.]

Potentially. [ hasmed is quick to add that, b/c look what happened the last time you foo's got your hopes up. ] For those who don't know, Amara is a homo magi, a sorceress of the race rumored to be the source of all magical bloodlines in this world. She's fallen victim to a curse that's affected her entire race for centuries, a love spell that's proven very difficult to break. What I've discovered are rumors of a town in Germany, where locals and visitors are causing quite a stir, claiming that magic will not function in the town, whatsoever. Now, this, of course, is a phenomena common to this world in times when the eldritch tide turns and the Veil closes: magic has always left this world during these eras. But to have it disappear in a concentrated location, while it is still alive and well elsewhere, is something else entirely. Which may prove useful, given that the curse has never been broken by the removal of magic from this world before. Perhaps whatever is causing this is something different, something that might help us in figuring out an approach to the situation. [ a pause ] Not to mention, we members of the Dragon's Fire naturally find the idea of such a non-magical zone to be somewhat threatening. Certainly something worth understanding.

[uncurse]

All right. So we swing over to Germany and figure out what turned the magic off so that we can cut Amara off from the curse with it. Why do I feel like there's a catch in this somewhere? [ because for emma is literally doesn't occur to her that the two other sorcerers in the room are more comfortable with magic than without. emma is happily the opposite. that's the catch, emma. ]

There's no guarantee, of course, that this will be effective in ending her curse, but it seems the best lead we've had in some time.

This is purely an investigation mission. If you uncover information that makes it seem that something more sinister is involved and require back-up from the other sections, you'll need to call for it at the time. We'll dispatch someone immediately.

[uncurse]

I think we'll all be hoping that we don't run into anything big or evil enough to need to. When do we leave?

Within the next week, ideally. The Hoard may be able to provide you with devices that can detect magic without relying on spells.

[charismapotion]

[ Mars didn't know who this woman even was but watching the others he figured it was a pretty damn big deal. So he was paying attention to it all.]

[Gold is mostly looking at Faye right now. Hahahaha. Yeah, girl. Time to get our practice on for that Eldritch Tide.]

I suggest making preparations as soon as possible. Straight reconnaissance can take time.

[ Mars looked over to Astrid, since shes the only one he knows he'll catch her before everyone leaves to ask about this Amara lady.]

[astrid is sitting there thinking about how nice it'll be to go back to germany and haw haw haw a place with no magic suckaaaahhhs. she hates magic, so she is probably the best/worst person to be on this mission. also, she guesses it might be nice if they help lila's friend??? whatever. also she's probably still texting commentary along those lines to adam under the table. those keystrokes are muscle memory, she doesn't need to see the screen. [ At least not for him. He was standing and moving over to Astrid though.]

Mind if I walk you to your room? [ He asked politely.]

Huh? Uh, sure, if you want. [she gets up and starts to leave the room, walking so mars can follow.]

[ Mars follows after her. Once out of the room he slipped his hands into his jeans pockets moving in stride beside her.]

Sorry, I don't know anyone else in there. I was just curious who this Amara person is and what happened to her.

I don't really know anything that wasn't already said at the briefing ... just that apparently she was the person under a love curse. I was talking with Lila awhile ago about possible ways to break it. And then, poof, this mission happened.

Strange thing to get a mission for, but alright.
