The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

That one actually pulls a confused laugh from Myri. She's not at all sure what he's doing, but it's very amusing.

"Here. Why don't we just..." She reaches out and takes his hands in hers, dancing with him a little more to at least get him back on track... sort of.

This is a train wreck.

You are? [he tilts his head curiously. it's not like he really knows any better either ok!!]

You always seem to be. [Which isn't the same as 'you always are,' is it?]

I'll leave you to your new squires. Just- take care of yourself. [And with a brief smile, she will head off.]

"Much like you didn't like mine?" Again, just pointing it out. Maybe don't be so sensitive, John. She's just telling it like it is.

"Anyway, I never said they were bad angles, did I? Nothing wrong with sharp features. It's distinct. Memorable."

[ Right now, she's feeling a little frustrated. He's not as forthcoming as she would like, though she can't really fault him for not having answers to everything. He's unfortunately just going to bear the brunt of her frustration in general. ]

Well, Captain, we should speak again sometime, but for now, I really should be going.

[ It's more abrupt than she would normally be, but she feels a bit strange about it all, and just needs some time to herself, especially with the revelations about her family. ]

[ If someone's going to see her crumbling composure, better it's Stiles than the whole party. She glances around a moment longer before she grabs his hand and pulls him towards the doors. Hope you didn't expect a real answer; she's more do-er than say-er. ]

[She smirks, nodding.]

[ awww hugs. too cute ;; anyway, francesca squeezes the other woman tightly for several moments, finally pulling back, her hands still around myri's waist. ] You're an amazing person, Myri, and you spread happiness everywhere you go, just by being you. You deserve the same happiness for youself, never forget that.

I was all alone in the world, as well, just like you. A Knight actually saved my life - quite literally - and invited me back here to the castle. Now, it's my home.

You-- What? [ she turns to violently shove him, and crit fails and ends up slipping in some fucking mud because she whirled too fast and angrily and down she goes, whoops ]

And what does one have to do to be privy to such moments?

I've been teammates with a vampire for almost two years now. Never heard him say anything about what it means to be 'original' though. Is that some kind of hipster thing for vamps?

Yep. [ she nods. ] I am so aware.

Well, I will stop bogarting you so everyone else here can meet you. It was nice to meet you, Hayley. [ she smiles again before getting up and drifting off. probably toward luthir. ]

Home, huh? It does have a nice ring to it. Most of the guys in the castle are decent, I guess. They would take care people like us. But, it's still a long way before I can call this place my home. [He still has to find the one who burnt down his old home before he can settle down.]

[Yep. That seems about right. He catches up to her pace easier, thanks to a longer stride. He knows better than to try to say a damn thing until they're out of the building. Even then, he's... cautious.]

This place is massive.

It's a castle. That's ... definitely part of the architectural requirement.

[ she steps out onto the patio that overlooks the gardens, hunching her shoulders and releasing his hand so she can move to the railing. ]

[Stepping up beside her, he awkwardly hesitates with his hand raised to place it against her back, hoping to comfort her. He debates with himself whether it would be a good idea and finally chickens out with a sigh, gripping the railing tightly with both hands, instantly frustrated with himself.]

Yeah. Guess so.

Regardless, Lydia doesn't seem to notice the awkwardness, because she's just focusing on the clean, brisk summer air and how it's not overheated from lights and bodies in the party. Finally, she looks over at him, realizing he was the one having a near panic-attack. She sizes him up a minute before settling on just being concise and direct. ]
