The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

[ looking more than impeccable as always (disguise 25), wynn is present as ever at the festivities, but he's certainly more solemn than ever. at various times the section heads, or jack, come to him for hushed discussions, and it's clear that this isn't a night off for any of them. ]

... barely be said to be without bias in this case. If you ask me, he's banking all his hopes on something that will only prove a waste of our time.

[ abigail is still not comfortable with any of these new strangers, no matter that she's spent a handful of weeks attempting just that. (though does watching 24 with alex really count as an attempt?) regardless, once she shows up, she just grabs a plate of food and a table off to the side and huddles over there, adjusting her scarf anxiously. it's lucky there are so many other people squired with her because she can just fly under the radar. yay. ]

[Thoster has this habit of finding people who would rather not be found. This time, he just plops himself at a chair at her table and kicks his feet up, tossing her an grin. Sure, the knights are in the thick of it, but he's lived his life by getting himself out of tight spots, so this is nothing new.]

[ ain't a party unless there's some dark elves hanging around. and today it's definitely gonna be val'drin because he wants in on the gossip train. and he looks painfully attractive as usual (disguise 31... or 38 for ladies). he does, however, look skeptical at all the dour faces. ]

[ lydia spends longer than most in the women’s dressing room, picking out a dress that fits her and suits her shorter, curvier figure. when she finally exits into the ballroom, she’s in a white, high-collared dress with short sleeves and considerable embroidering (disguise 22).

her hair is coiffed and her make-up is bold without looking too far from natural, and she looks altogether enormously relieved to be out of armor. she makes careful study of the dour attitude of most everyone hovering about, and opts to invite herself to the drink’s table first, pouring herself punch and scanning the dance floor like a tiger waiting to pounce. ]

You can find Stiles with a plate full of finger foods, showing off his excessively mediocre dance moves while he stuff his face on the dance floor (perform: dance 11).

He's not really dancing through, more... standing around the outside, sniffing the wine and turning his nose up at it. Honestly, how do you people drink this stuff?]

[Not dancing? Well, that just won't do. Helen is a vision tonight with her nat 20 disguise. But I am bad at finding pictures, so you just have to use your imagination.

It's hard to get into the celebratory spirit tonight, but Helen doesn't want the new squires to feel less welcome. So at some point in the evening, she comes up to "John Smith" and extends her hand.]

She's going around the room with a drink in hand, silently observing everything she can about this party and taking it in -- the people, the atmosphere, etc. -- but is definitely not giving off any indication that she doesn't want to be social. If that were the case, she probably wouldn't have come to this party. Duh. Basically she's just casually hanging around; feel free to bother her anywhere in the room. She might even be able to be easily talked into dancing.]

[Andrew's not great at these parties. But he does his best to at least make an appearance. He runs into her refreshments table, realizing that he's blocking her trying to get to some little finger foods. That's what he gets for being a 6'4 block of nerd flesh.]

[Rebekah (disguise 18) wanders through the room with a drink in her hand. She's still been adjusting to being here -- and with these people. There's a few familiar faces she's on the look out for, but she's generally approachable. She especially would be open to any offers to dance.]

[ Leia is dressed elegantly with a disguise of 22, and she feels more at ease now, settling into something familiar: ceremony, formal affairs, exchanging pleasantries with strangers. She's sipping at some wine as she surveys the room, interested in mingling and getting to know the people she'll be seeing so routinely. ]

[This time, Max is wearing something more decent, a geeky T-shirt with a picture of pixel-y 8-bit dragon printed on it and a pair of jeans. Still not appropriate for a party, but at least it is more decent than what he wore at his squiring party(disguise 6). He brought his PS Vita with him but he is currently munching down the selections of food around the place with the appetite of an orc.]

[Felicity is going with her usual of sparkles, legs and heels as she makes her way into the squiring party, making a beeline for the bar and a quick drink. She's knows some stuff is going down but she's not involved enough with that particular group to know what it is and she's not asking. It's probably for the best.

All the same, she's friendly on approach and will happily idly chat for however long you'd like her to. Feel free to bother, and she will tell you about how her BFF is getting married. It's awesome.]

[Brantley walks toward her with his usual smile, he is still bothered with the affair, but he does try to stay calm about it.]

[David is doing his usual wallflowering, looking not as nice as he could look but nice enough (disguise 9). (Contrary to what the picture would lead you to believe, he is wearing slacks, he just can't be bothered with a jacket and tie.) This is mostly because Lissa isn't here to dress him, and he's trying not to miss her.

He doesn't exactly have a lot of friends.

Needless to say, he's milling around, chatting with anyone who would chat with him, and generally being just ... the giant looming presence he usually is. Occasionally with food.]

[Kate is looking hella gorgeous because the dice love her and decided she was going to be runway model pretty today (disguise nat 20). She's also got a drink in her hand and is in the process of scanning the room to try and figure out where to mingle. She's looking for familiar faces first, more than anything else, but there are also a lot of new ones and she'd like to get to know them.

Beyond that, she will just be out there being social. Feel free to put her in your area of the ballroom, she doesn't bite.]

[ francesca is here, causing nosebleeds since 1904, most especially tonight with her 39 (or 49 for all the gentlemen in attendance) disguise check. the dark elf came to meet her new squire, but she can also be seen sipping champagne while mingling with the other guests, including her equally sexy beau.

she's very skilled at pretending that everything is as it should be. ] I can't say I've seen this many squires inducted in one month in quite some time.

[Myri is trying to seem normal, but she feels anything but. There's at least a bit of her high from announcing her engagement. But mostly she's just... still uncertain on how to consistently act like a normal person.]

[Han's lounging in a chair near a table by the wall. He's got a plate of food and he's eating it while watching people dance and socialize.

Occasionally his hand slips under the table with some food.

That's around when you might notice a tail sticking out from under the table cloth. Mostly because it starts wagging.]

[Jaime, for once, isn't wearing armor. In fact, with his disguise check of 14 + some kind of charisma modifier, he looks pretty damn sexy in a coat and tie.

He also looks a little like he's being strangled, but some people might find that a good look on him (hi Alanna). He's got a goblet of wine in his hand and he, for once, appears to be in a decent mood, despite the strangulation. Maybe that's thanks to the wine.]

[With a skill check of 11+ Charisma modifier which equals him to 13, Chris looks rather decent even though he wasn't at all comfortable at partying. So he looked around rather nervously and got a plate full of food.]

[Max walks toward Chris and stops without saying anything for a while. He scans him with his otherworldly dark green eyes for a moment before finally saying a few words.]

[Never let it be said that Hayley isn't a team player. The very thought of having to wear the armor had been stifling, but actually having to walk, in full plate armor, while eight months pregnant is an arduous task. Its' stiff and uncomfortable and definitely didn't do anything for her appearance or desire to keep a low profile. It goes without saying that the moment the ceremony is over, she's ducking out and moving as quickly as she's allowed to get all of this off of her.

Once she's in something far better suited for a werewolf in her state, she returns hoping to at least meet some people and try to catch up with Rebekah. She'd seen her briefly during the ceremony, but other than knowing for sure that Rebekah had seen her - Hayley is pretty sure everyone saw her custom armor and the reason she needs it - she's just wanting to reconnect with her friend. She'd left, they'd said their goodbyes, but she hadn't imagined that she'd see her again so soon. Least of all here.

For now, though, she just has a glass of water. Sipping slowly as she tries to rehydrate.]

[It's odd. Her name was called and she's pretty sure she saw Buffy in the crowd, but there wasn't any remark of "What?" or "Who let her out of prison?!" Faith had been certain that would happen. Instead, there had been nothing at all. Maybe it's another blonde. Maybe that whole thing where people can kinda look like someone else is going on and Faith just got lucky enough that there are two of B' running around these dimensions.

Considering how dark and vamp friendly LA got, it's a bit of a surprise that this might be the first sign of that other Slayer. She probably had better things, right? The whole... life and whatever it is that Buffy did to fill her time.

Faith just knows this isn't prison and honestly it's better than other weird places she's sure she could've ended up. There were probably lists of them in those books the Watchers always wanted her to "read up on". Like that was gonna happen.

Instead, she gets the shortcuts again. Slayer. Busted out of prison. Knight. Well, on her way to Knight. Still, the only other thing she's thinking about is how they say some people don't remember their lives. Or parts of them get scratched out. It makes Faith think back to how desperate she'd been to scratch out parts of her own life.

Here she feels pretty whole. She doesn't feel like she's missing anything. Except a warrant out for her arrest and maybe some cheese fries.
