The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[The Doctor with a swanky disguise of 25 has managed to find himself proper white tie attire, all top had and tails and rather well turned out.

Well, he was told there's a party.

He's not really dancing through, more... standing around the outside, sniffing the wine and turning his nose up at it. Honestly, how do you people drink this stuff?]

[Not dancing? Well, that just won't do. Helen is a vision tonight with her nat 20 disguise. But I am bad at finding pictures, so you just have to use your imagination.

It's hard to get into the celebratory spirit tonight, but Helen doesn't want the new squires to feel less welcome. So at some point in the evening, she comes up to "John Smith" and extends her hand.]

Care to dance?

[Imagination or googling pictures of dresses for 20 minutes. One of those.

His back straightens a little as she steps close, blimey she looks a bit good, doesn't she? Well, he can hardly help but notice. Hardly help but smile at her a bit too.]

Well if it isn't the Doctor.

[He smirks just a bit, still pleased with himself for that one, and reaches out his hand towards hers.]

[Clasping her fingers around his, Helen leads them both out to the dance floor, seeming very at ease and falling into the steps with moderate skill. She's definitely not showing off or trying to make it so he can't keep up (perform: dance (which is charisma based) 12)]

[ alanna shows up after the ceremony, even a bit late to the party. she’s wearing a simple dress and hasn’t bothered to do anything cosmetically outside of brushing her hair. all signs point to “she forgot it was the 1st.” ]

[He adjusts it slightly on his head and grins.]

[ her eyebrows arch dubiously and she rolls her eyes. reaching out, she takes his wine glass from him because oh stop sniffing that. ] There's punch as well, you know, if you're not a wine-drinker. [ she remarks like she's not certain if that's the case, but her actions tell a different story as she drinks from his wine glass. what? he obviously wasn't going to use it. ]

What in the bloody hell have you got on your head? [ those dulcet tones, softened by a thick irish accent, come from the very tiny (four feet tiny) ginger standing behind him. ella's bright dress matches her hair, but seems a bit at odds with her half gobsmacked, half utterly judgmental expression. ] And tails! You've got on proper white tie, haven't you, bloody Benedict Cumberbatch.

[Well that sounds familiar. He turns towards the voice, but nope, not a mass of blonde curls. Voice should have given that much away really. He looks down, because, well, he has to otherwise he'd be looking above her head, and that'd make for an odd sort of conversation.]

Benedic-- Oy! Wait. No. He's alright looking isn't he? Is he?

[He dusts down his cummerbund, because yes he's wearing one, just try and stop him.]

Well if you're going to make an effort, might as well go all out.

I think he looks a bit like a gerbil. [ truth. T R U T H. she doesn't mean it as an insult to the doctor at least. ]

[Max was gulping tasting some of the wine, when he saw the man with the top hat. Normally, people would start with a "hello", but this half-orc never cared about subtlety.]

Too mediocre for your taste, top-hat?

[He'd pass comment, but he's been called so much worse. He'll deal.]

Prefer my drinks a lot less disgusting. Awful stuff. There are dead animals that smell better.

[He looks at him with a pair of judging eyes.] Where in the bloody worlds can you find dead animals that smell better than alcohol!?

[Kate is a pretty big fan of wine, and she has a glass of her own as she notices the Doctor making a face at his. She smirks a bit in response, before making her way closer to intercept him.]

I'd prefer um-bongo. [They drink it in the congo, you know.

He offers her a small smile.]

Don't suppose they've got any?

[Kate would try and answer that question but she has no idea what that is (knowledge 6). She frowns politely before shaking her head.]

I don't know. But you could check at the bar?

[ looking his polar opposite, max is here with his seventies hair, beat up leather jacket, and jeans, eyeing up that ensemble. ] Did I miss the new dress code?

[The Doctor opens his arms a little and offers a grin in his direction.]

What? It's a party isn't it? [Might as well make the effort, eh?]

Myrilandel is a bit nervous. Returning to the castle after two months of being kidnapped and tortured will certainly do that to a person. She's doing her best to appear normal, which mostly involves her quietly walking around the room. She doesn't know many of them- mostly only those who have been on mission with her. It's while she's searching the crowd for one of those familiar faces that she accidentally bumps the arm of a man.

"Oh! I'm...I'm sorry." She stammers, looking up at him with an uneasy smile. "I wasn't watching where I was going."

The Doctor isn't really paying full attention either. He's somewhere in his own thoughts, replaying the evening over in his mind. It's why he doesn't see her as she steps against him, and why for a moment he doesn't know if it's him or her that knocked into who.

"No no that's--" he starts, but stops, concern finding its way into his eyes. She looks uneasy, he thinks, and so his question comes naturally. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine." The answer comes automatic. She's answered it a thousand times. She's fine. She doesn't need anything. Yes, she's resting. Myri loves her friends for their concern but she's conditioned herself to try to ease their worries. It's only been a few days. And perhaps the Doctor has heard a bit about two Knights coming back from a dreaded island, perhaps he's seen the somber faces in the ballroom that are too deep in thought for circumstances surrounding those events.

"Are you one of the new squires? There were so many, I think I lost track." This time her smile is a touch more genuine.

John Smith, huh? You wouldn't happen to be an extra from Pocahontas, would you?
