The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

"Right then," his hat is taken back and placed back atop his head, and his bowtie is straightened before his hand is offered out towards her.

"Let's see your moves."

Taking his hand, she lets him lead her out onto the dance floor. Her moves are lacking, but she's been tortured for the last two months so give her a freaking break (perform dance 9).

"I'm afraid I'm not much of a partner tonight."

It's alright, Myri, you've really not seen his moves yet. Though it's quite possible that's for the best.

"Hey you look pretty good to me. A bit of this, bit of that, eh?"

And yes, that might be the night fever dance he's attempting right now.

"What are you..?" She's never seen dancing like that. "Are you alright?" She's starting to wonder if he's having some sort of seizure.

"Me? Never been better!" (And as that's actually a big old lie - bluff 23). He pulls another move, something that looks like his hips are being displaced.

That one actually pulls a confused laugh from Myri. She's not at all sure what he's doing, but it's very amusing.

"Here. Why don't we just..." She reaches out and takes his hands in hers, dancing with him a little more to at least get him back on track... sort of.

This is a train wreck.

What, no, Myri dear no, he really can't be tamed. He looks at her, screwing his face up a little.

"What, not a fan of my moves?"

"Your moves are ... fine." She manages to lie better than she normally might (bluff 20 total) and gives him a smile. "I just can't keep up. Slow down for me? I would hate to look silly in front of all these people."

"Silly?! It's all about looking silly! Biggest secret in life, that, looking silly. Tell you what, if people want to look and judge you, let 'em! I always have."

Really, if he let other people's opinions on him bother him then he'd never get anything done.

Myri is not overly concerned with the opinions of others, but she's also not one to really go that far against the grain. At least not with things like dancing and looking a little silly. She's not feeling much like herself lately, though, so what could it hurt?

"Alright... why don't you show me how."

"Right then."

The Doctor puts his hands together and cracks his knuckles. He means business here. "You best be ready for this," he tells her with a grin and a twinkle in his eye.

"It goes like this."

And then he proceeds to lift his arms and do the drunk Giraffe dance. You know the one.

No one is ever prepared for the giraffe dance. No one. Myri just steps back and watches with wide eyes. A moment later, she's laughing and... Oh, he expects her to do that as well, doesn't he?

Is there a way to do that dance badly? Well, Myri's dance check of 8 certainly says she could. Her arms are a little too floppy. And she nearly falls down, tripping over her feet and bumping into him with a small yelp of surprise.

"Sorry!"

The Doctor's interpretation of badly might be a little different to most, and so where others might be frowning, the Doctor is grinning as though she's just performed a Samba.

"Now you're getting it!" he tells her. "Just like that. But shift your arms like this."

He demonstrates a move that by all rights no human or indeed anybody with limbs that are actually attached to them, should ever be attempting.

"Feels good, doesn't it!"

"I don't know if I can move like that..." But here she goes trying. Myri now has noodle arms, flapping around in imitation of the doctor. But at least she's smiling, laughing even. So good job, Doctor, for that one.

"Is this right??" She just can't be sure, really.

She might look ridiculous, yes, and maybe more than that, but the fact she's smiling proves it's worked.

"Blimey look at you, you're a natural! Giving me a right run for my money!"

"You really think so?" Her arms drop a moment later, slightly out of breath. She's never really made a fool of herself like that. But it's fun. In small doses, at least.

"I think I'll leave it to you for the most part."

"Ooh I know so!' he agrees, a smile that's impossibly wide. He means it too, at least in his own way.

"Yes well I am the expert, after all."

Perhaps not, but you'd never think it with the way he gives his bowtie a tweak. It's good though, for as much as he might be cheering her, it's doing all that and more for him too. He needs this, because for so long there's been nothing but sadness in those old hearts.

Myri can't help the way she smiles at his antics.

"I think our knighthood will be better for having you here, John." And she really does mean that. "Thank you. I needed... this."

Her words strike him perhaps more than she realises, and the emotion that touches his eyes is sudden and unexpected. He glances down, choked a little, before he looks back up.

For a long time, he's not been able to think of himself as a positive influence, not on anything or any one. For the first time in a long time, she's made him feel like he's done something good.

"You know," he says quietly, "I think I did too."

Smiling in a smaller, more private way, Myri steps closer to push herself on tip toe so that she can press a quick kiss to his cheek. For the first time since she's returned from Andres, he's made her forget all the pain and managed to make her laugh. That's important to her.

"You should enjoy the rest of your party. There are so many more people for you to meet."

He doesn't realise of course just how much it might mean, doesn't know her well enough for that. But either way, he's happy to see her smile. A smile is important, no matter who.

"I'll see what I can do," he tells her, and he means it. She's brightened his hearts, just as he's brightened her.

"Nice to have met you, Myri."
