The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[David looks down at himself as he takes the napkins from him, before looking back up at Stiles with a look that's probably hard to determine exactly, but it's mostly surprise more than anything.]

No thanks necessary. Just an observation. I mean- I'm kind of hoping you'll tell me that you showed up scrawny and ended up like... that. Would mean there's hope for me.

[There's a small hint of a smile before he shakes his head.]

Sorry. But if you worked at it, you probably could.

[Muscle like this is mostly a matter of working for it, really. David has it easier because he's lived in combat for the past twelve years, but he's seen other people do it too.]

Guess it's time to hit the gym. Pretty sure there's time for cake first.

[He pauses.] Actually, I may have found my own answer to the problem. But if cake is wrong? I don't wanna be right.

[He chuckles softly, before nodding.]

You may want to at least keep in shape anyway. Some of the missions can be physically demanding.

[So not exactly a grueling work out scenario, but a little cardio might not be such a bad thing.]

Guess that means my dreams of becoming Sir Couch Potato are officially dashed. Nah, that's not a big deal. Hell, maybe I can get a lacrosse team together.

...and maybe I'll actually get to play regularly.

[Apparently in all that internet surfing he was doing, he actually learned what lacrosse was (knowledge 18). His face picks up a bit at that, and while he knows that he'd probably mow Stiles down like a freight train, it might not be a bad way to kill some time.]

Could be fun. You might have to teach a lot of the people here, though.

Hey, teaching, I can do. It's the actual athletic ability that I tend to lack.

Athletic ability can be learned. You just have to be willing to work at it.

[David will even help him if he wants to learn. He'll teach him lacrosse, David will help him bulk up. Win-win.]

Yeah, we'll see. It would be good to have a place to play even if I suck. But if it works out, we may even be able to draw a crowd. [He glances over towards wherever Lydia happens to be. Maybe she would come see him play...]

So uh- anyway. What's your name again?

David.

[He didn't give it, so the again is redundant, but he doesn't say as much. He just shifts his plate and sticks out his hand.]

David Levin.

[Stiles just assumes he isn't paying enough attention.]

David. Right. Well, it's nice to meet you. So uh- Anything I should know about this place?

[He gives a bit of a shrug.]

Depends. Are you from here or did you come through the Veil?

[He's not judging - it's just a straight forward, factual question. Coming through the Veil, some people have more to adjust to than others. He certainly did.]

Veil. Definitely Veil. Complete with missing memories and all.

Me too. Though I actually remember a fair amount, I think. It's hard to say - I haven't met anyone from my world.

I sort of ran into a girl from home. Literally, actually- if you were watching that mess during the ceremony. [He points out Lydia.] Lydia Martin. She and I go to school together. Went. Whatever.

[He nods as he follows his pointing to Lydia.]

You have someone from home. That's good, isn't it?

Yeah, it's... I mean I think it is. She's not always my biggest fan. Its complicated.

It's still someone. Maybe with both of you being here, she can get over it?

[Maybe not in those words exactly, but he knows from experience (he thinks) that even people who hate each other tend to band together in unusual circumstances.]

Maybe. I dunno. Been trying not to think about it, really. [As definitely evidenced by him bringing it up out of nowhere.]

Anyway. You. Me. Lacrosse. I'm serious, dude.

[David nods in agreement.]

Definitely. Just let me know when and where.

[Provided he's not, you know, chasing one of the squires in his protection through Russia.]

[Or traveling through the internet in a series of tubes.]

You got it. [And he will hold out a fist for some sweet fistbump action.]

[Yeah, David has no idea what that's for (wisdom 4). He left the real world in the nineties, dude. He's just going to stare at that fist for a moment and try and figure out what Stiles expects him to do with it.]

[After being left hanging, Stiles just reaches over and takes one of David's hands, curling it into a fist and guiding it to lightly tap Stiles' own.]

It's called a fistbump. Use it wisely. Use it justly.

[He nods a bit as he makes note of it, but is a bit amused at the "power" this will provide him.]
