The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[This time, Max is wearing something more decent, a geeky T-shirt with a picture of pixel-y 8-bit dragon printed on it and a pair of jeans. Still not appropriate for a party, but at least it is more decent than what he wore at his squiring party(disguise 6). He brought his PS Vita with him but he is currently munching down the selections of food around the place with the appetite of an orc.]

[ francesca sidles up beside him, because he's an unfamiliar face (at least to her) ] I don't believe I've had the pleasure.

[Max takes a look at her for a moment, blushing a bit before averting his eyes somewhere else. Such a pretty lady.] Uhh.. Yeah, you haven't. The name's Max, Maxwell Briggard. Nice to meet you... Uhh... Lady...

[ silly me, i forgot he was a half-orc, so he's literally towering over her 5'2" dark elf self. she don't mind though - the height difference or his appreciative assessment - as she's pretty used to it. and she even extends her hand up towards his. ] Francesca.

[He gently accepts her hand and shakes it. His face is still a bit blushed so he occasionally turns his head sideways, awkwardly trying to hide his reddened face.] Uhh... So... I take it you're a dark elf? I've never met one of your kind before.

What gave it away? [ but it's clear she's only teasing, her amusement evident in her expression ] We're not common, especially at an establishment like this. Although I suppose not as uncommon as someone with orc blood, like yourself.

[beatemup]

[Max blushes a bit more as he is not used to being teased by a member of different sex.] Uhhh... Yeah, I only know a handful people with orc blood in their veins. Orcs are quite rare. Especially a half-blooded orc like me. But I guess that's what makes us interesting. Not that I think your people are less interesting.

[socialgraces]

[ her expression softens at his discomfort ] No offense taken, I promise.

Mind if I ask what brought you to the Knights?

The short story, I'm looking for something and I need help to do that. But if you don't mind a long and bloody story, I can tell you the long version.

[socialgraces]

Long and bloody definitely sounds worth the time. [ she grins ] If you don't mind sharing, that is.

[beatemup]

Nah, I don't mind at all. [He chuckles at her reaction.] Let's start with.... [Actually it's not that long but imagine he tells the story in a way that takes 8 years of your life before getting to the point where he met the mother of why he joined the Knights. He tells her everything. Starting from the story how his half-orc father arrived in this world a few decades ago. How his father met his human mother, fell in love, got married and had a extraordinarily handsome son. How his mother died of illness when he was a teenager. How he joined his father to work in private military group immediately after. And most importantly...]

A few years after I got officially commissioned into my team, a mysterious anonymous client backstabbed us and set up a trap. We fell into the trap and got slaughtered. It killed everyone including my father and all the guys I had considered as brothers, and when I said slaughtered, it's understatement. [He unconsciously makes an angry glare.] I can tell you how gruesome it was, but I don't want to ruin a happy party. [He takes a moment to regain his mind.] Continuing... The only survivor of the incident was me. Now I'm looking for them and I need resources to do that which this place provides. And when I find them, I can assure you I'm not up for a chat.

[socialgraces]

[ she's a very good listener, and she seems to be actively interested in what he's telling her ] And what advice did Wynn have to offer about your quest for revenge?

[beatemup]

Advice? No, no advice yet. He just gave me his approval. I can use the things in the castle for my purpose as long as I don't have any plan to hurt innocent lives. Well, how about you? Have any advice for me? [He just takes the whole matter lightheartedly and he shows it with his cheerful smile and voice.]

[druidisms]

[ sup sup it's your favorite (haaaaa) mentor. he's not being around the bush right now though, so he just comes out with it. ] Max. How's next week sound for your orientation?

[beatemup]

Huh? [He is busy vacuuming the food, so he takes a while to process that.] Oh... Hey! Yeah, sure. [Munch! Munch! Munch! Gulp!] It's not like I have better things to do.

[druidisms]

How have you been settling in? [ gus uses caring mentor.... it's.... kinda sorta effective? ukw, he's new at this shit. AT LEAST HE IS TRYING. IDK WHAT YALL WANT FROM HIM. ]

[beatemup]

[Yeah, it's super effective. Max is not used to getting this kind of treatment and it makes him feels a little bit guilty to go all out like usual, he even stops eating.] Pretty good. The castle's a bit stuffy for my taste and the desk work's a bit boring, but nothing I can't handle. Wynn's a pretty cool boss too, he doesn't mind me using the castle's resource for personal reason, so I guess everything's good.

[druidisms]

[ gus will latch on to stuffy. he can sort out what max needs knight resources for at orientation when they're, you know, in private. ] There's a movie theater in here, if you get bored. [ and he saw you with your game boy thingy at the last party. ]

[Yeah, those two are different things. He plays games as many times as a panda eats bamboo, but he only watches movies once in a while.] Not a really big fan of movies, but yeah, sure, if I get really bored, why not. I'm hoping you send me on a mission before that happens though.

[druidisms]

I'm not in charge of that, missions are all Wynn's doing. I just judge you afterward. Unless I'm there with you, which isn't out of the question.

That's weird. How can you judge objectively if you're not there to watch?

I'll get reports from the knights that are there with you.

So, one of your jobs is to summarize the reports of my doings? That's suck. You should see me in action when you get the chance. Not getting cocky here, but I'm much more interesting in person than on a pile of papers.

I don't doubt that.

[He nods cheerfully in agreement.] So, you have a bear and live in the forest, right? Are you a ranger or what?
