The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Nah, I don't mind at all. [He chuckles at her reaction.] Let's start with.... [Actually it's not that long but imagine he tells the story in a way that takes 8 years of your life before getting to the point where he met the mother of why he joined the Knights. He tells her everything. Starting from the story how his half-orc father arrived in this world a few decades ago. How his father met his human mother, fell in love, got married and had a extraordinarily handsome son. How his mother died of illness when he was a teenager. How he joined his father to work in private military group immediately after. And most importantly...]

A few years after I got officially commissioned into my team, a mysterious anonymous client backstabbed us and set up a trap. We fell into the trap and got slaughtered. It killed everyone including my father and all the guys I had considered as brothers, and when I said slaughtered, it's understatement. [He unconsciously makes an angry glare.] I can tell you how gruesome it was, but I don't want to ruin a happy party. [He takes a moment to regain his mind.] Continuing... The only survivor of the incident was me. Now I'm looking for them and I need resources to do that which this place provides. And when I find them, I can assure you I'm not up for a chat.

[ she's a very good listener, and she seems to be actively interested in what he's telling her ] And what advice did Wynn have to offer about your quest for revenge?

Advice? No, no advice yet. He just gave me his approval. I can use the things in the castle for my purpose as long as I don't have any plan to hurt innocent lives. Well, how about you? Have any advice for me? [He just takes the whole matter lightheartedly and he shows it with his cheerful smile and voice.]

I hope throughout your time here you find a more fulfilling reason to exist, one that will provide you with more than just the option of success or failure. [ she's not being judgmental, she just imagines it must be a terrible life if all you're hanging on for is killing a bunch of people. she pauses a moment to sip on her drink, musing. ] Perhaps that was part of Wynn's motivation, as well.

.... Thanks. Maybe I will, one day.[He smiles softly. And it's rare from him to smile like this. He doesn't really believe he'll find that reason though. His friends were the most important things in his life. He might make new friends here, and maybe even his own family but he doubts that a new one can fill the gap they his old friends left in his heart.] How about you? Why did you join the Knights?

I was all alone in the world, as well, just like you. A Knight actually saved my life - quite literally - and invited me back here to the castle. Now, it's my home.

Home, huh? It does have a nice ring to it. Most of the guys in the castle are decent, I guess. They would take care people like us. But, it's still a long way before I can call this place my home. [He still has to find the one who burnt down his old home before he can settle down.]

Well, to be fair, I have been here for one hundred and ten years.

Yeah, I probably won't reach that. Most half-orcs die naturally in their sixties. But I'm easy to please, so it'll probably only takes a couple of years to reach that milestone. Faster maybe, if all the guys here are like you.

[ she smiles, and it's almost flirtatious ] Oh, there's no one quite like me.

I guess no one is. Umm...In a good way, of course. Like no one has a face as pretty as yours. [He freezes and smiles awkwardly. He doesn't flirt or get flirted a lot, okay? Almost never. You'll have to forgive him for his lack of... finesse.]

Why, thank you. [ she ducks her head a bit at the compliment, still grinning ] I don't mean to make you uncomfortable, by any means, so please stop me if I do.

[He blushes again.] Oh no. Not at all. I enjoy our conversation. I'm perfectly comfortable, like a pea in its pod. [He is awkward and uncomfortable, but he does enjoy this. (bluff 2)]

[ she eyes him curiously, and despite his denial, she can sense his discomfort increase by the minute, but honestly, she's pretty used to having this effect on men. ] So, which sect do you best fits your skill set?

Without doubt, the Hide, of course. This body is made for front-line battle. [He raises his arm and smacks it with his other hands, showing his bulging bicep.] But lately, magic seems interesting. Not sure if I have the aptitude, but no harm in trying to learn new stuff, right?

Magic isn't restricted to just mages and clerics, either, you know. There are those of us laymen who incorporate certain magical spells or techniques into our own special fighting styles. [ with all those muscles, he would be a bad-ass monk ]

Then maybe you should teach me about those techniques some other time. I don't think my mentor can teach me about this stuff.

[ she chuckles a bit at that, because she's certainly no master in all the magical fighting arts, but perhaps she could point him in the right direction ] And what is your specific fighting style? Do you use a sword, an axe... a crowbar?

Battle hammer for close quarter combat, assault rifle for long range. But I don't follow specific fighting style or anything, just the one they taught me at military camp and it wasn't even an official military camp, more like just running around and doing push ups. I usually just use brute force to knock my enemies in one go.

That seems the simplest way to go about it. However, there's always a chance that doesn't work, of course.

I'm sure there's someone around here that would be more specialized to teach you specific fighting styles. My focus is more on stealth and good aim.

Stealth and good aim, huh? So you're a rogue?

Of a sort, I suppose. I was taught by a former superior some ways to incorporate magic into training, and learned to use specific techniques and spells to improve my ability to be covert.

Cool! So, you can shadow-meld like one of those Japanese Ninja? Turn into mist-form? Or maybe you can blink and twist the flow of time like Corvo from Dishonored? [Yeah, Max, maybe you should use different illustration, not everyone is a gamer like you.]

[ well, francesca knows even to realize he's referring to video games of some sort (pop culture 20) but she's definitely not a gamer, no. her powers aren't really party tricks, but it can't hurt, right?

in a fraction of a second she gone, as in, she's completely disappeared from sight. she'll appear again, leaning slightly against the table with a smirk in about six seconds, but until then, he can be left wondering where she went. ]

What the..! [Yeah, he just stands there and looks around, trying to find her as she phases out of reality. And as soon as she reappears, he greets as her with words of praise.] Wow! That was awesome! That must be very handy. I've seen someone that can blur himself, but none like the one you jut did. You can literally take out anyone you want. Just disappear and stab them in the heart. And no one will be able to beat you. Unless they have true sight, of course. But I'm sure you have other tricks up in your sleeve.
