The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ As far as she knows, she's never really met a man like this before: bold, audacious, and cocky. She should be annoyed, but in some ways, it's refreshing, and a nice change from most of the politicians she's encountered. And she feels a certain kinship with him. ]

I'll agree to that, if you actually do tell me something.

[ She has her doubts. ]

Only one way to find out, right? [He heads over towards the drink table all swagger and confidence. She'll follow. If nothing else, cause she likes to have the last word, and he's being obnoxious and mysterious.]

[ He certainly as a healthy ego, maybe a bit too healthy, though she'd be lying if she said it didn't charm her. So, she follows him, chin tilted up as she walks, as though to silently insist he hasn't affected her in any way. ]

I'll have some wine, thank you.

[ It'll be a nice distraction, and she's sure she'll need it. ]

[He snatches one of the bottles off the booze table along with two glasses and saunters over to one of the little tables around the room.]

Now, then. [He pours them each a generous-sized serving and gives her a look that's more serious. As charming as he can be, he knows when to focus.] What d'you remember about our galaxy?

[ He's smooth, certainly, and charming in a way that could easily irritate her, but she follows him to the table nonetheless.

They're not in their galaxy anymore so there's really no reason to be evasive about the Rebellion, but she is for the time being, at least. ]

The Empire has a tight grip on most of the star systems, though there's a strong rebellion against it. I think the Empire won't last much longer.

It won't. [His voice is a little rough as he says it. That's a whole lot further back than he'd hoped, though it doesn't much match up with how she looks. She's beautiful, of course, but she doesn't look like the teenager she'd been when they'd met. Maybe Jaina's whole theory about just losing memories up to a certain point isn't so far wrong.] We won.

[ That jars her a little, and she wasn't expecting to hear such positive news from this man, of all people. ]

...we won?

[ And then: ] We? You fought with us? [ That's the fleet he's talking about? Now she's even more intrigued, though still cautious. ]

Right by your side. [It tended to be them and Luke, back then. Hell, that hasn't even changed that much.

Or... hadn't.

Hey, speaking of which...]

So, uh, you know Luke?

[If she didn't know him, it's unlikely, but with the Veil, it's hard to say.]

[ It's unnerving to hear the mention of someone she should know, but doesn't.

It's also slightly disappointing that she doesn't remember Han Solo, that from her perspective, they've only just met.

She wonders what she's missing. ]

I don't know him, but he must be important?

He's your brother. [This is pretty important. Han doesn't remember all the details of the rebellion, but he remembers enough that he figures he should impart some important knowledge.] So don't... uh, kiss him or anything. If he shows up here.

[ She's still trying to process the fact that she has a brother when he advises her not to kiss said brother. ]

...I have a brother?

And why, precisely, do you feel the need to warn me against kissing him? Is this something I've done?

Hey, if you don't know he's your brother, there's no saying what you might do. [Yes, Leia. Yes it is something you've done before.]

[ Her voice might be a little clipped right now. She guesses it's...helpful? But also very strange, and her mind is a flurry of questions.

It's not so much the kissing thing - as unpleasant as that sounds - but that she has a brother she knows nothing about. ]

Why is it that I was never informed of this by my parents, if what you're saying is true?

Fun thing about the veil, sweetheart, is it's hard to say what your parents told you or not.

[But he relents.]

To keep you two safe. I dunno if they even knew about him. [Since they're... dead. :-( ]

[ It's not much of a comfort, and in fact, just brings more questions. ]

Safe from whom, or what?

[ She'd certainly like to know if her parents were aware of Luke at all, but since that's impossible now that she's no longer with them in that world, she'll focus on what Captain Solo can tell her. ]

No one you need to worry about here, Princess. [He huffs out a breath. She's supposed to know all this. He shouldn't have to fill her in on every little detail cause they're supposed to be a team. Maybe he'd be better off if she hadn't shown up at all.]

Look... d'you remember anything about your birth parents?

[ She believes him, at least, and she senses that it's best not to question on that particular matter any further. ]

I remember...my mother. She was...kind, but very sad.

Nothing about your father being a Jedi, though, I take it. [And nothing about her father being DARTH VADER. But that's up there in things he's not gonna share. The Jedi thing, though, she should know.]

[He shrugs, looking a little uncomfortable at this line of inquiry.]

[ Her eyes narrow slightly, but really, she has no room to protest, because she has no reason to disbelieve him. ]

What else do you know about me, then?

[Ha.

Ha ha.

He can't answer that question honestly. Not if he wants to keep his composure. (Bluff 19).]

You're a public figure, highness. I've picked some things up.

[ Right now, she's feeling a little frustrated. He's not as forthcoming as she would like, though she can't really fault him for not having answers to everything. He's unfortunately just going to bear the brunt of her frustration in general. ]

I suppose you have.

Well, Captain, we should speak again sometime, but for now, I really should be going.

[ It's more abrupt than she would normally be, but she feels a bit strange about it all, and just needs some time to herself, especially with the revelations about her family. ]

Sure thing, Princess. [He gives her a lazy wave, looking for all the world like he doesn't care one way or the other what she does (bluff 21). He doesn't want her to leave. He wants her to stay until she remembers him again and everything is like it should be.

But that won't happen. The veil ain't ever that kind.]
