The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Are you sure? Because, you are already trying to pin down my aspirations for this place.

[She exhales. The frustration a bit clearer in the moment.]

You aren't the first mentor that tries to see some grand future ahead of me, or whatever it is that you think you can teach me to do. There's no room for improvement here. You get what you see. I'm not gonna bend over backwards to be something that someone else thinks I'm supposed to be. I've done that. It doesn't work out for me.

I came here because I know I can do this and it's better than figuring out all of this on my own. [For as hard as it is for her to admit, she sucks at the whole solo thing.]

[Lila you are an angel from heaven. Alaric doesn't even blink when he's slipped another glass of bourbon. He will just accept that like it is a gift from the gods and place his empty glass down onto the table. Back to business.]

All I'm asking is whether or not you've given any thought to where you might want to end up, or what you're looking to get out of joining up. "No" is a perfectly acceptable answer. You've been here all of what, a day? [Just saying.]

If you did have an end goal in mind, or once you do, then I can try to help point you in the right direction and get you there. Maybe "mentor" wasn't the right word for me to use. I'm here to be a resource for you.

Look, whatever your reason for joining, Wynn saw something in you that sets you apart. My role is to make settling in easier, and to try and make sure everything works so that you're getting just as much out of this as you're bringing to the table.

[See, all of that would've been nice - if he hadn't taken that drink as if he needed it in order to keep talking to her. She's seen that sort of reaction when it comes to alcohol and it's not generally a good sign.

Her arms fold across her chest, that standard defensive posture walling herself up a bit as he continues to talk. When it seems like he's done, she nods.]

[Well no offense, Faith, but you ain't exactly makin' this easy, gurl.

The combination of her defensive posture and suddenly being on board kind of speak for themselves (sense motive: 13).

Deep inhale. Okay, this could have gone better. He deserves points for trying though.]

Is there anything you want know? I can show you around.

[Faith doesn't give out points. The only place that has ever been run on a points system in Faith's experience is prison and she doesn't want to think about that. Everything else has always been win or lose and truthfully, she's done a lot of losing.]

Look, I'm new. So if there's something I should know, then start there. [because logic.]

There's going to be a couple official orientations on weapons, equipment--that sort of thing. Those should happen over the next couple of days for all the new squires.

You probably already know where your room is, but I can show you around the rest of the castle so you don't get lost. I don't want to pull you away from the celebration though.

[Unless parties ain't your thang, but this night was supposed to be all about the newbies.]

[Faith cracks a grin. She's not sure if she can classify herself as someone who gets lost easily. At least not in the directional sense.]

You must either not have much luck giving tours or you think this place is gonna kill a party after an hour or so.

I don't typically go out of my way to offer tours, so I wouldn't know.

Alright, let's do the tour.

[Faith gestures for him to lead the way.]

[He's going to avoid pointing out the obvious, and hope that she knows this is ballroom as they make their way out into the grand hallway. Either way, she'd get used to this section of the castle pretty quickly considering there were celebrations like these at least once a month.]

The round table room is through there. That's where you'll get your mission briefings with the other members of your team. [Which is actually good to know, because she'll be asked to show up on time so knowing where the hell you were supposed to show up to was always a good thing.

He continues to narrate while they make their way down the great hall.]

We've got a kitchen and dining hall right through there, and on the other side of the hall are the Dragon's Claw offices. [And personal quarters but, as with Wynn's private chambers, it's sort of a moot point because who ever even goes into those rooms. Love lockdown, baby.]

[Hold up! Faith has been chatting it up with one of those Dragon Foot dudes. Or maybe it was tooth. Definitely dragon though.]

That Chessing guy has an office down there? [Not that she really needs to know that, because who would ever go talk to him about anything? Definitely not Faith. Nope.]

He does. [Haha not anymore tho. But they don't know that yet.]

[She nods.]

Cool. He seemed alright. I mean, not that I really get their whole deal, but if I had to get my ass saved by a guy, I think he'd do okay. [Aaaaand no credit to Alaric here.]

Dragon Claws make a vow of chastity when they take the job. [So he ain't even mad lmao. Moving on~]

And what does that have to do with anything? [Seriously... she's not really planning on a guy saving her ass, but she's just saying - he seems a pretty decent guy and she wouldn't be ticked off if he pulled a Wes and actually helped.]

Alright, so what else is there to see?

Fluffing my own ego. [Not even gonna lie ok. But they make it to the end of the grand hallway and so there are two options, depending on what she wants to see.]

Dragon's Fire offices are down the hall to the right. That's the sect that mainly deals with magic. Supplies for spells are stored nearby. To the left, there's the library and my sect, the Dragon's Hoard. There's also a couple communal areas, and one of the bars down that way.

[Faith gives Alaric a sly look, because - alright, maybe he just got a few points there for his honesty.]

Skip all that magic and library shit. What are they hoarding in the hoard? [Oh, and she heard the word bar - she'll hit on that in a moment.]

Gadgets, weapons, tech, you name it. The labs are where the development happens. [It's basically the most interesting place in the castle but he might be a little biased.]

Can we go check it out? [Faith likes sharp things...]

Otherwise, I'm all for making sure I know where the bar is.

There's more than one in the castle. [She'll probably become familiar with all of them after too long. Especially considering it's an hour drive into the city proper (I think) and people liked to unwind with drinks after a mission. I think that's the whole reason Wynn keeps them around tbh.

But in addition to pointing out the bar that they pass, he makes sure to point out the two community areas--one of which has a television so that she can catch up on all of her favorite trashy tv shows. And while she expressed disinterest in the library, they are passing it so he points that out too so she ... knows where it is.

When they finally make it to the labs, she'll see all sorts of useful tech stuff. Think like the things Marshall comes up with on Alias idk. There are a lot of smarties here with a lot of different expertise. One work station in particular appears to be dedicated to anti-vampire weaponry. That would be Ric's. :')]

[Faith follows and takes note of all of the places that Alaric shows her. Once they get into the lab, though, she opts to take a slow tour at first, just glancing at the usual things that she figures are pretty standard. She slows when she reaches the aforementioned area that Alaric is in charge of.

Her hand hoers over a few items, but she just goes for what's familiar and takes hold of a stake.]

I recognize this, but the rest of this stuff -- it looks like I should know it.

You recognize a wooden stake? [That was sort of interesting... unless she liked to pitch tents or something. Then maybe not so much.]

[Faith raises a brow.]

Didn't they give you any information on me before they shuffled me off onto you?

Not really, no. That's what this is supposed to be about, I think.

[Faith shrugs and puts the stake down.]

Back home I'm a Slayer. The whole chosen to hunt demons gig. Vampires are pretty much the main targets.
