The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[he actually laughs a little bit. precious.] His name is Lemon. Everyone at the shelter thought he was yellow until he had a good bath. And then it sort of stuck.

Hi Lemon. [ more pets, and then she just scoops him up into her lap. yes, perfect. hi puppy. she's so good at socializing. ]

[YES PLS. lemon loves pets and attention. he is a perfect angel. and will is just going to keep talking about him bcuz dogs >>> everything.] He's an American Eskimo dog. They used to train them to walk tightropes at the circus.

[theminotaur]

Why? [ she smushes lemon's face between her hands, kisses his nose. ] Do you want to be in the circus, Lemon?

They're smart and easy to train, I suppose. [lemon responds to her question by ... panting. bcuz he is a dog.]

And pretty. [ she's that shallow, i guess. ] Wasn't that dangerous for them, though?

I don't think they were that high off the ground. Not like when people walk tightrope.

Oh. [ she's going to steal lemon. ] Are you going to get another dog?

[GET YOUR OWN >:( LEMON IS HIS.] Probably. It feels lonely, just having the one.

He'd probably get lonely, too. [ pet pet pet. if she never has to talk to people again that would be great. just lemon. and will. and maybe alex and alanna. other people are scary. and probably cannibals. she's pro-will getting more dogs. since SHE IS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO ADOPT ONE HERSELF GOD, WILL and it's not like they can do home visits at the castle... ]

Most likely. [lemon would be ok with that. and will too, probably.] They're supposed to be companion dogs.

Who is going to take care of them when you're gone doing... missions? [ her. the answer is i choose you, abigail. ]

[he actually crit fails the wis check for that. even will graham can fail to be intuitive sometimes :'( ] I'm sure I'll be able to find someone.

[ will. :| ] Can I do it? Lemon loves me. [ she really just wants validation that she's trustworthy enough in will's eyes to watch his dog. she shouldn't be, considering her defenestration of his crush, but he doesn't know that yet. and might not ever. ]

[lemon licks abigail's hands, as if to prove her point and say YES I DO.] Sure, if you want. As long as you're not off on missions, too.

I'm not sure I should really go on missions. What if something... triggers my trauma. [ her eyes roll slightly at the terminology, even if it's accurate. ] And I do something bad. Dr Bloom tried to keep me from going back to the house because it would be bad for me and then we went back to the house and it was bad.

What do you plan to do instead? [he's not trying to be critical, he's just honestly trying to gage what abidoodle is thinking.]

[ she shrugs. ] I'll do whatever they tell me to do. I'm just not sure I should.

[mydesigns]

Then why be here at all? [will doesn't know how to ... not be blunt. oops.]

[theminotaur]

Because I don't want to be like my dad. [ so she joined a knighthood to catch bad guys. like will and jack and beverly did. ]

[mydesigns]

You're not your father, Abigail. And you could never be your father. [SO FIRM ABOUT THIS.]

[theminotaur]

[ her fingers catch her ear. she's sure she could. her father made her complicit in his crimes, so did hannibal. didn't that make her a monster? even if it is was to save her own life? what about alana? she could have, she should have said no. ] I think I can. That's what scares me.

[mydesigns]

You asked me before, if I thought being here was dumb for someone like you. When I prodded you about that, you said you thought it was beneficial to your continued well-being to be here. Is that really what you think?

[theminotaur]

[ she takes a moment to answer, burying her face in lemon's fur. ] Dr Bloom used to say I shouldn't isolate myself. That solitude could make it worse because I had nothing but my own thoughts to keep me company. She said talking would start to make it feel normal. So I talked in group and to Freddie and to you and I think it was better. But then I was alone for three months and I didn't have anyone to talk to and all I could think of was those girls and Marissa and Nick Boyle and I didn't want to be like them. So when I ran into the knights and they asked if I wanted to go with them I said yes because I didn't want to be alone anymore. I dont want to be what Hannibal and my dad made me. [ hastily wiping at her eyes, she sniffles. none of it is really an answer to his exact question, but it's certainly an answer. she does think it'd beneficial to her well-being, she's just not sure she deserves it. ] Dr Bloom would want me to be near people that aren't like them.
