The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I don't know, I didn't expect you to draw out the quarterback metaphor like that.

[ shrug. ] I don't think Will is going to shave. [ you can't have him, find a new present. ]

That's a pity. [he doesn't seem particularly torn up about it.] Guys like that, it's like making out with sandpaper.

[ her nose wrinkles. you're killing her, alex. ] I wouldn't know.

You don't kiss boys?

My dad was a serial killer, he wasn't big on me dating. There's not a lot of opportunity to get out when you're in a psych house for three months.

Well, you've got the time and opportunity now that you're here. [SHE'S NOT HIS REAL SISTER. he can set her free into the wild. shotgun polishing is will's job.]

[ she makes a face. just like the face she made when alex mentioned his brand of comforting. ew. abigail has no desire to kiss people. or touch them. or be near them. except will and alex. whom she does not want to kiss. there's no kissing on her agenda. ever.

but she's going to push, because that's what she does for her little thrills of control. she likes to see people's reactions. ] You?

[he quirks an eyebrow, but it's not like he's like ewww get it away or anything.] I thought you weren't interested in me.

You're the only person here I like. [ male person. though, she does like fred. so that's not entirely true. ]

So now you want me to kiss you?

[ she lifts her eyebrows expectantly. the reality, of course, is no, not really. but see if she admits that. he said anyone. that includes him. ]

[sense motive ... 8. he's dumb. maybe's he's just used to everyone actually being in love with him, okay. he leans in, slowly ... and kisses her on the cheek. suckah.]

[theminotaur]

[ he moves so slow she doesn't flinch, but her eyebrows knit together and when he kisses her cheek instead, she breathes out a little sigh of relief and maybe amusement. ] Thanks, I really didn't want to actually kiss you.

[ambitionist]

[he just laughs.] Don't be dumb. I know you're not my sister, but you still remind me of her too much. And your ... legal guardian? Pet homeless guy? He's right over there.

[theminotaur]

Will. His name is Will. [ much easier to say than legal guardian. ] Did you see Lemon?

[ambitionist]

Will. [he looks back over at will ... and notices the dog running around his feet. (spot 13) look, he was busy focusing on the fixer upper potential before.] Is Lemon the dog?

[theminotaur]

Yeah. [ chinhands. abidoodle is in love. ]

[ambitionist]

Cute. When I was squired, one of the kids I was squired with brought his cat to the after-party. And my mentor brought her bird — I think might've been a hawk? I'm not sure. Huge, though.

[theminotaur]

Maybe a peregrine falcon? Those can be big. Or a raven, those are huge. [ knowledge: hunting birds 17. this is hella appropriate considering she is a baby shrike. ] Will collects strays. Like me.

[ambitionist]

No, it wasn't black like a raven. It was mostly brown. [shrug. he is a city boy ok he has no reason to know jack shit about birds.] I think Wynn collects strays, too. The more people you talk to, the more you realize everyone around here is kind of messed up.
