after-party ♔ june

♬ Jeux d'eau - Ravel
WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || June 1st, 2014, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam
The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.
Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.
Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

Considering how dark and vamp friendly LA got, it's a bit of a surprise that this might be the first sign of that other Slayer. She probably had better things, right? The whole... life and whatever it is that Buffy did to fill her time.
Faith just knows this isn't prison and honestly it's better than other weird places she's sure she could've ended up. There were probably lists of them in those books the Watchers always wanted her to "read up on". Like that was gonna happen.
Instead, she gets the shortcuts again. Slayer. Busted out of prison. Knight. Well, on her way to Knight. Still, the only other thing she's thinking about is how they say some people don't remember their lives. Or parts of them get scratched out. It makes Faith think back to how desperate she'd been to scratch out parts of her own life.
Here she feels pretty whole. She doesn't feel like she's missing anything. Except a warrant out for her arrest and maybe some cheese fries.
Current priority: cheese fries.
The rest can come later.]

Sir Lehane, was it?
no subject
You can call me Faith. Unless you have an issue with the whole informal thing.

Jack Chessing, Dragon's Claw. [ and he'll offer a hand ]
no subject
Dragon's claw? What's that part for? I mean, I've heard of Esquire and the second and third, but that's new. Can I just add an animal onto my name? Faith Lehane, Jaguar's Teeth. [She shrugs.] Maybe not.

Huh. [Her eyes lift back to his, trying to be polite and all she makes that ever so desired eye contact.] So, it's your own little ... secret club inside of another sort of secret club.

Little groups like that, huh? [She's not gonna make a comment about how she never understood that in high school, because she's pretty sure that sort of thing happens everywhere. It happened in prison, why not knight... club.]
What part is the dragon or is it the claw? Are you guys the book-learned ones? [Look, he's just really throwing out those Giles and or Wesley vibes.]

So right now you're on vacation.
[She's thinking it, but not going to say it.]

After the ceremony, he grabs himself a drink (or two), before actively seeking her out. When he finds her, she's eating. That beat dancing in his book. Random stranger approaching you, boo.]
Faith, right?
no subject
Yeah. [Her chin lifts slightly, giving the guy a once over.] Who are you?
no subject
no subject
Yeah? And what are you gonna mentor me in? [Being a functioning alcoholic? Because, she's pretty sure she had enough "mentoring" of that growing up.]
no subject
manners, bitch.she's just getting a look because it sounds like no one explained shit to her.]How things work around here. If you have any questions--that sort of thing.
no subject
Yeah, I got that. I meant... beyond a tour and reading the rules. [Come on, she's not a kid.] Are you some sort of expert on this place?
no subject
Well, beyond making sure you're settling in alright, I track your progress and decide if and when you're ready to be promoted when the time comes. [I'm basically your supervisor ok.]
no subject
You realize I could kick your ass, right? How are you going to track that progress?
no subject
There are a lot of people in this room who can kick my ass. [Failing to see your point, gurl.]
I'm talking about mission evaluation--making sure you've got some direction here.
no subject
What sort of direction are you thinking I need? [She's a blunt force instrument, those don't usually need needlepoint accuracy.]
no subject
That's really up to you. Have you given any thought to what you hope to accomplish here?
no subject
Not dying. That's a good one. [She's going to shove some food in her mouth now. Clearly not planning on talking again until she finishes this bite.]
