The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

And what do you think he should be funneling time into pursuing? [ the easiest way, she's discovered, to get people to open up is to make them think their opinions are valuable (diplomacy 25). ]

[ hasmed scoffs into his drink, as they exchange a look that makes it clear they're both on the same page with whatever they're talking about. ]  A way to invade Andres that isn't going to get most of our Knights killed.  And a strong leader among the Andresians who can take the reins when Sarandis is brought down once and for all.

[ (knowledge: history 14.) lydia's managed to find information on the andres isle, at least, so she does some mental math to catch up on the rest. sarandis, apparently, needs to be brought down and replaced with another strong leader—making him some kind of dictator, which the knights have taken it upon themselves to unseat. the rest she can just fake it 'til she makes it while getting him to tell her more. ]

Any strong leader in Andres is likely already in Sarandis' government, and I don't see the Andresians loving a foreign leader. The United Nations didn't wait around to find a replacement before overthrowing Hitler. [ or attempting to assassinate him. repeatedly. she shrugs. ] What exactly is it that makes you think the current plan is going to get us all killed?

Wynn can be stubborn, particularly when it supports his idealism. Sometimes he believes too much in those who've done little to deserve it, and that faith of his isn't always perfectly placed.

Is there an anecdote to come with that observation, or am I just supposed to take you at your word?

The entirety of this mission that's led to Thomas' capture comes to mind. He left one of the most important missions of our time in the hands of by and large green squires.

Is that evidence of Wynn's idealism, or insult taken on your part? [ she's just saying. ]

[ well, that earns her a scathing look ] It's foolishness meant to inflate their feeling of self-importance. Wynn's so convinced that all it takes to create heroes is to treat someone as if they are already one that it at times blinds him to practicality. We've a number of more capable Knights who might have averted the numerous disasters they've already wrought.

So, that would be insult taken, then. Does Wynn know that there's this much bitterness flying around?

Wynn is more than aware of our qualms in this matter.

Hm. Bitter old people. I guess there's some truth in stereotypes after all.

[ she gives a pretty unsympathetic smile and then turns to excuse herself, because that's all she has to say about that. whoops. ]
