The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Thank you. It's not that I'm nervous. I just don't do well with large groups of people. I — um, I think too much.

Nothing wrong with thinking. But I understand about the crowds. I'm not doing well with them lately, myself. I've been looking for an excuse to step away, truthfully. If I go off alone, someone might think something is wrong. But if I was showing a new squire how pretty the courtyard is at night, they wouldn't worry so much.

[because she was kidnapped. she spent too much time away from other people, maybe? and now reintegrating is uncomfortable. and her friends worry too much, apparently. he is getting myri pegged. (wis 23)] I would love to see the courtyard. [he smiles at her, less forced and more genuine this time.]

[witchwoman]

[She breathes an audible sigh of relief, grateful for the excuse to get away from the noise and the people. Leading the way, myri takes them out of the ballroom, keeping quiet until they've made it outside.]

Better. [she says, not really making it a question.] Thank you.

[he nods in agreement, because he also feels like this is better. being outside >>>> being inside with people. there are also less people around for his empathy to try and latch on to like some kind of japanese animu tentacle monster.] Not a problem. I should be thanking you. [part of him wants to ask about the thing ... but no. he won't ask about the thing. it's not his business.]

[witchwoman]

[Glancing over at him, her smile is small.]

You're lucky there were so many of you. It's easier to get lost in a large group of squires, I think. There are times when it's only one or two. Imagine all the handshaking and introductions.

[mydesigns]

I would hate it. [he shakes his head, smiling a bit as well.] How many were at yours?

[witchwoman]

Is it terrible that I can't remember? [She shakes her head.] It was two years ago? Two and a half, maybe? So much has happened since then.

[mydesigns]

It's not terrible. [he shakes his head.] Two years ago is a long time. Especially with all that's happened to you — [he stops like wow i probably shouldn't have said that. oh well. tact and will graham tend to live in different neighborhoods.]

[witchwoman]

[She turns quickly to face him at that comment.] All I've... [she sighs.]

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that people talk. I just hoped the newest might not have heard the story just yet.

[mydesigns]

My, uh — she's not really my daughter, but she's like a daughter to me. Abigail. She's been here for awhile. She told me.

[witchwoman]

The quiet girl with the scarf. [What? Abigail is constantly touching it. Attention gets drawn there.] You knew her before the Veil?

[gently pushes aside the topic she doesn't want to go into.]

[mydesigns]

[he nods.] I thought I was hallucinating at first. [it wouldn't have been the first time!!]

[witchwoman]

I'm glad you were able to find each other. Family is important here.

[mydesigns]

Do you have family here?

[witchwoman]

Yes. [she answers without hesitation.] None that I knew before the Veil brought me here but I have found my family here.

[mydesigns]

That's good to know, that this place provides an environment where you feel safe to make those kinds of connections.

[witchwoman]

Yes, I felt.. feel safe. [oops.]

[mydesigns]

[it doesn't seem to bother him.] Using past tense is understandable.

[witchwoman]

No, it's- [She shakes her head.] It's not. Because this place is safe. It's home. I wasn't even here when it happened. And I don't want you to get the wrong idea about this place from the start.

[mydesigns]

[he shakes his head, too.] Don't worry about influencing me, I'm fully capable of forming my own opinions.

[witchwoman]

I only wish we were in higher spirits for your introduction to our group.

[Shes been home for like four days and already can't stop apologizing.]

How do you like it so far? Are you excited to become a knight? [Somehow, he doesn't seem the excited type.]

[mydesigns]

[he shrugs, not too concerned with everyone acting like they're at a funeral and shit. moving right along:] I have reservations, but ... it seems like a good opportunity.

[witchwoman]

What sort of reservations? [She's just curious. Or maybe she will tell you if you were spot on.]

All the people. I'm not good with people.
