The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[She just nods thoughtfully.] I just hope that everyone will be alright with the way I grow up. [Hi insecurity. Sup.]

If they trust and respect you, and - more importantly - love you, I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. Our experiences shape who we are, and there's nothing we can do to change that. Whatever you take from this tragedy, whatever way it may change you, is now a part of who you are, and those who wish to keep you in their lives will learn to accept that, even if it takes some time.

[Myri takes a large breath in and lets it out slowly.]

It's terrifying.

It is. Trust me, I understand. [ her voice is gentle, yet confident ] But you'll only become stronger. You lived to fight another day.

[witchwoman]

I did. I don't know how I did, though. [She's stronger than she thinks, but all she can think of is that she had wanted to die so badly.] If Jack and Thomas hadn't shown up when they did...

[socialgraces]

[ she flinches at the mention of thomas, but tries not to look upset ] The tortures you've been through... I know Jack and Thomas are quite relieved with their timing, as well.

[witchwoman]

I can only hope to return the favor with Thomas' rescue. [And Amaranth, but she's not so sure that bringing up her familiar with a beloved knight will win her many favors.]

[socialgraces]

You will. We will. [ she reaches for myri's hand right now, giving it a squeeze, unless she flinches away ]

[witchwoman]

[No flinching. Myri takes Francesca's hand and squeezes right back.]

Well, congratulations again, Myri, and be safe. [ she pauses for a moment, as if she's gonna move in for the hug, but her hesitation only seems to halt the goodbye ]

[witchwoman]

[Myri can tell just what Francesca was about to do (wis 17) so she meets her in the middle, going in to complete that hug.]

[ awww hugs. too cute ;; anyway, francesca squeezes the other woman tightly for several moments, finally pulling back, her hands still around myri's waist. ] You're an amazing person, Myri, and you spread happiness everywhere you go, just by being you. You deserve the same happiness for youself, never forget that.

[witchwoman]

Thank you. [She says quietly.] For everything. Really. [She glances out at the rest of the party.] I suppose we should get back out there. Greeting the new squires and all that.

[socialgraces]

I suppose you're right. [ she pulls back from the hug completely now, putting some appropriate distance between them ] I'm always around, if you need to talk. Or even if you just want some company.

[witchwoman]

I know. And I'll try to... I'll keep it in mind. [She doesn't want to promise that she'll do anything, not just yet. But she does appreciate it more than she can say.]

Along with everything else going on in your life right now. [ she gives her a sympathetic smile ] Take care, Myri, and go enjoy your fiance.
