The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Hey. Did someone ... die recently? [he's asking this as a serious question, not like "lol who died????" he's taken in the mood of the castle throughout the squiring and now the afterparty. shit is somber. (wis 20 total)]

No. But some people were kidnapped and just came back. That one -- [ she points out jack. ] -- is a Dragon's Claw. His partner was left behind when they rescued the others. [ her eyes search out myri, whom she met that one time, and she points her out to will. (spot 12) ] She was one of them. Also, there was a doppelgänger in her place. [ is that it? she thinks that might be it. ]

[he takes her words into consideration, shifting puzzle pieces around in his mind. kidnapped people being returned should be a cause for happiness, but there was a knight left behind. dragon's claw, high ranking. people are fearing the worst. possibly because something like this has happened before? (wis 23) ] Doppelgänger?

Literal translation. I guess they're shapeshifters who can... shapeshift into other people. [ she still sounds kind of wary about crazy shit like this, but it's tempered with that fascination about it because doppelgängers sound awesome to her still. so much freedom. drinking the kool aid. ]

[he's used to weird fucking shit being a thing now. he was around for awhile before being dragged into the knights. and he actually got a knowledge:idek 18???? ] Don't they read thoughts?

I'd guess so. Since they're big on identity theft. [ it seems like a logical conclusion and will is smart, he knows random things like this. ]

[mydesigns]

[he seems to take a moment to consider that.] What happened to it? The doppelgänger.

He's in the dungeon. I'm not sure where that is though. Basement, probably.

That's comforting. [such a bland delivery. no it's really not comforting at all.]

[ she smiles a little, and tugs one of her legs up on the chair, wrapping her arms around it. girl, that is not how you sit in a dress.

abigail doesn't give a fuck. ] Are you any better when you try?

At least slightly.

[ well, he is pretty good at acting like a serial killer, so she'll give him that, tucking her chin on her knee. she doesn't say anything else. mmm, silence. ]

[don't expect him to contribute anything gurl. bcuz he won't. they'll just be silent together. silently.]

I'll be right back. [ and she abruptly leaves. not just the table, but the whole ballroom. a few/ten minutes later she comes back with will's dog (navigate 14 to find will's room & and handle animal 20 total to make the pup happy). she sits back down like nothing happened, petting the fluffy white dog calmly. there is a very obvious change in her demeanor, in that she's less shaky and anxious. she's actually smiling a little and it's not tense. ] This is better.

How did you know I brought a dog? [because you're will graham and she's known you longer than five seconds, dumbass. the dog is well-behaved, just sitting there chillin' while abigail pets him. will gets in on the action too, scratching behind the dog's ears.]

You had fur on your clothes. [ and you're will graham, you always have a dog. your full name is will "i have a dog, this is a picture of my dog, do you want to pet my dog, this is not a euphemism for penis, it's a dog" graham. duh. ]

[he actually laughs a little bit. precious.] His name is Lemon. Everyone at the shelter thought he was yellow until he had a good bath. And then it sort of stuck.

Hi Lemon. [ more pets, and then she just scoops him up into her lap. yes, perfect. hi puppy. she's so good at socializing. ]

[YES PLS. lemon loves pets and attention. he is a perfect angel. and will is just going to keep talking about him bcuz dogs >>> everything.] He's an American Eskimo dog. They used to train them to walk tightropes at the circus.

[theminotaur]

Why? [ she smushes lemon's face between her hands, kisses his nose. ] Do you want to be in the circus, Lemon?

They're smart and easy to train, I suppose. [lemon responds to her question by ... panting. bcuz he is a dog.]

[theminotaur]

And pretty. [ she's that shallow, i guess. ] Wasn't that dangerous for them, though?

I don't think they were that high off the ground. Not like when people walk tightrope.
