WHAT || London hosts an academic convention regarding the phenomena of the Veil and Shadowkind

WHERE || London, England
WHEN || June 7th, 2014, evening.
HOW || Actionspam. Single thread.

It's been over a hundred years since mankind first came to a global realization that magic and monsters were real and walked among us. Yet in all that time, much about the process of how or why remains a mystery, and a subject of great speculation among scholars the world over.

This is why London hosts an annual convention to discuss these complicated matters, both from a scientific and social perspective. There's something for everyone with even a passing interest in understanding the Veil, magic, or the various races that share this world. Sir Jeanne Gar, a young member of the Dragon's Hoard, has been asked to present some of her research at said convention, and has invited many of the Knights to come fill the seats, and explore the other lectures.

The hall is large and brimming with scholars both young and ancient, as well as those of a variety of unusual Shadowkind species.  It makes for great people watching from the food court, at least.

[ lila is... also not going to be that lady. they've had these discussions before. she can't pass up a chance to play devil's advocate though. it's her favorite thiiiiiiiiiing. ] We are, for the most part, who we remember ourselves to be. Isn't it called a "gift" because it gives us a chance to start over without the burden of our pasts and the desperate desire to return home to the loved ones we can't remember?

[ yep, interrupting your lecture to answer your not-actually-a-question question. she didn't stand up this time though and she very clearly doesn't sound like she completely agrees with what she is saying. ]

[he can't suppress an eyeroll bc omg she's going to do this at every lecture. it's a lecture not a fireside chat with lila zacharov.]

Our loved ones and our pasts aren't a burden just because they're out of reach. That's what we're here to talk about today - reconstructing what we once had in our old world here, through community efforts to piece together the memories that were stolen from us.

[ it is so, sylar. it is so. but she keeps her mouth shut this time to let the spanish harlem angel continue. mostly because... she's said similar shit to sylar. ]

A lot has been said regarding so called Shadowkind slums - areas of major cities where people are flocking together to live among their own. People point to examples like kobold tribes, drow houses, goblins, as evidence of why this is dangerous.

But we know better. We have a right to try to get back as much as we can from what's been taken from us.

[ her nose wrinkles at the idea of slums. it's all very hitlery, like the camps back home in the 20s and 30s. it has a bad connotation for her, but hey, she doesn't live in them. handy, though, knowing they exist. maybe her tiny little kobold friend in scotland has more family.

...or more dragons. ]

[he's still listening attentively, moving to twine his hand with lila's. living among ~his own~ would probably be the worst idea ever. and one of the reasons he still has apprehensions about talking to wynn about the knights. he doesn't want to ... kill half the castle next time he gets munchies.]
