Talk about a soiree. The team has walked into what is clearly legitimately a Gatsby party, but with an Indian flair. Even upon approach, it's easy to see that this place is without parallel: people are driving cars right up on the lawn of the fabulous mansion, which looks half-modern and half like a palace out of a Bollywood film. Men and women in bright colors, fabrics, beads and silks move inside en masse, and as the doors are opened before them, they can see the grandness of the interior, with its diamond garland, draped fabrics, giant jeweled elephant statues, indoor trees that arch to the ceilings, twirling dancers, and a tall dramatic staircase leading up to a balcony above where the host himself reclines surrounded by admirers and friends, smoking a cigar.

Liquor flows freely, and food is carried around on golden trays through the crowds. It's an overwhelming buffet for the senses, a dizzying spectacle of color, laughter, dancing, and entertainment.

Oh no. I've had Insert Response before and that's not what you're serving. [From the woman who doesn't drink and sure as hell hadn't been drinking here.] Perhaps we can find out from the Sommelier? [Which is just a fancy name for some dude who deals with wine service and all that blah blah blah. Google FTW.]

[ Qualified sommelier playing this idiot. But this idiot knows nothing about wine. He didn't join the mass exodus to the kitchens, because really people it looked obvious enough. Instead, he mills around the party room, a smile for people who might look in his direction, ready to approach anyone that might look chatty. People always get chatty, and funny just how much they give away when they do, even if they don't realise it. ]

[he glances down at his phone, quickly shooting out a text to the doctor because he seemed so gifted at it earlier: break some more shit. cause a scene, something. i want desai off the stairs. (sleight of hand 17)] Hmm ... that's a shame. [~such a sad frown.~] You don't think he's gonna stand up there and lord over the little people all night, do you?

[ He gets the message and rolls his eyes a little. Really, is this what he's been reduced to, some sort of performing monkey? He's not about to do the same thing again, but he can handle this, so he replies with a simple 'taking care of it' before looking up and grinning widely.]

Right! [ he claps his hands together ]

[Oh, he's going to regret this. He's probably so going to regret this. He's not sure he wants to know the Doctor's idea of a party game, but he's assuming that there's a point, so ... ]

[ Is it possible to give a look that conveys 'get other people involved'? Because if it is, that's the look that he's trying to put across. He responds all big voice and beaming smile. ]

[ He's trying to keep him occupied as long as he can, keep him interested, and because he's lying his arse off... bluff roll of 35 ]

[hallelujah praise the lord. alex raises his eyebrows at his new hottie frand like yeah how about that??? come on now mchottie. we're going on an adventure. up the stairs. (move silently 16)]

[ yeah desai could care less if you wanna go upstairs bitch, he's gonna WIN THIS GAME. THIS MYSTERIOUS GAME. ]

Of course I am. Who wants to be on my team? [ abruptly, about twenty people volunteer at once, and he takes his time picking people out, looking over at the doctor ] How many?

[Andie looks blank at Alex's request.] Somme-who? Look, who got the wine?

[When Natasha slips into the kitchen, she goes for checking out the foods instead of the wines/drinks. Right now, she's just going to start with a glance around said foods (spot 16) to see if anything is worth examining in more detail than she's doing at the moment.]

Exactly. [Alex just has no idea what your deal is Andie but, you're not Division so for now that makes you not an enemy.] I mean I suppose I could just go ask Shuli [Totally pretending that's a pet name okay. A pet name that Alex may have just made up (Bluff 25)] But I would hate to bother him when he's so busy hosting. [Addressing random Staff Member #1 (Diplomacy 28)] I'm sure you'd be willing to make things easier by telling us where the wine is brought in from?

[Alex aware of the redhead who joined them but for now keeping her focus on the staff member.]

The wine is import. From Italy. [ he assumes that's what you mean by where it's brought in from, ok. Rather than... where it's poured. The food is a rich array of Indian cuisine, top notch but hardly worth suspicion ]

[i will be assuming that meanwhile, mchottie has led alex k. to the treasure room and they are now trying the door to see if it's locked.]

[FTR. She seriously thought about pulling her weapon and speeding this conversation up a little but (Will Save 24 - Wisdom 18) that was going to make for one hell of a cover blow.]

And I could find the person who poured all these where? I thought I could pick his brain. [Smiling. (Bluff 33) Because Alex's bluff is just ridic.]

[ BACK WHERE THE GAMES ARE. The Doctor has his attention on Desai. Well, most of his attention. There's just a slight glance towards the stairs. Still, this seems to have put a grin on the host's face. He'll run with it. ]

Oh about five or ten I should say. Fifteen if it suits you. Some even opt for twenty. Really that's the beauty of a team.

You lot, [ there's a vague wave to the crowd that arrived since Desai moved over ] you can make other teams up. Right then, there we go.

[ he really should, you know, think of a game. ]

[ the wine guy smiles back at alex, eager to please. ]

Ah yes! Desai pours all of the wine himself. A tradition in his family, he says, for the host to do so!

[ as alex and his hottie make it to the top of the stairs where desai was sitting, he might notice with a spot 12+ that there is an ornate green and gold decanter sitting on a pedestal behind his fancy-ass chair - sealed behind glass in the wall. oh ho ho~

desai eagerly starts picking out (mostly beautiful women) teammates from the crowd, opting for twenty, duh. ]

[David just looks ... completely unimpressed with this game he volunteered for himself, but he'll fall in line, not really wanting to go against the flow of things at this point. He glances to the people around him, trying to see if he can gauge twenty from where he's standing and make a team.

For whatever game this is.

[~suspicious.~ Andie bounces on her feet, getting antsy from all the standing around talking.]

[ his first spot check ... was shit, so i rolled again and got a NAT 20 BITCHES. best action point i ever spent tbh. anyway, alex notices the fucking goblet of fire just hanging out there behind the glass and his mouth quirks to one side in a frown. of course this asshole would just hide it in plain sight. where it would be obnoxiously obvious if anyone casually tried to take it. how would he even get it out of the glass??? man, there are probably alarms all up in that shit, too. this is his ex-not-girlfriend's deal. if only this was who wants to be a millionaire and he could phone a friend or some shit. instead, he decides to .. text andie. while keeping one arm around mchottie's shoulders.

[Whoops she's out of there like a literal shot (will save 3 to not blow her superfast cover) so yeah she just... pretty much vanished in a blur. She's gonna start searching the house for Alex because wow she can't wait for texts to go through (search 13). Hopefully Alex will give her some pointers...]

up the stairs a bit down the hallway. with someone else. found the goblet of fire [yes we're calling it that] at top of the stairs behind his fancy chair. behind glass. probably has alarms rigged. how long would it take you to find the power grid, cause a blackout, take it, and turn the power back on? like a minute?
